Mosasaurus is a marine reptile whos closest relatives today are the monitor lizards. It is a huge marine predator equipped with huge strong jaws and teeth. Mosasaurus have good eyes and a good sense of smell. Like all marine reptiles they have to breath air, so from time to time they must come to the surface. InGen scientists found out that they can hold their breath for ca 1 hour. Mosasaurus was secretely cloned by inGen and first they didnt know who to handle a marine retile ,so the young mosasaurs had to stay in a shark tank until a solution was found. However it soon turned out that they grow fast, too fast and the shark tank was soon too small. Luckily, the inGen scientists developed a high security fence for underwater animals and Mosasaurus was shipped to isla nublar . After the 1993 incident the underwater fence was found empty and with a big hole in it, suggesting the mosasaurus escaped. Since then, the other cloned mosasaurs were released and are now living around all the 5 islands that are inhabited by dinosaurs. Mosasaurus prefers deeper water, thats why it is mostly found around site D which is surrounded by a deepwater lagune. Mosasurus are hghly agressive and attack prey that is even bigger than themself. Some whales show strange bitemarks from an unknown predator and it is presumed that they come from mosasaurus. It also seems that whales dont come too close to the islands, probably because of the mosasaurs that live there. The first attack on a human after the 1993 incident was in 2001 as a mosasaurus attacked a small tourist boat near isla sorna. Mosasaurus is coloured with a yellow underbelly a gray blue body with 3 big brown-yellow spots on each side, and a tail that is triped in gray. His jaws are so powerful taht they can crush a turtle easily. Despite this they also feed on big fishes that are common around the islands. Mosasaurus are territorial and live solitary. Their big finned tail allows them to swim very fast over short distances. They are elegant swimmers too, and the keeprs described them as majestic animals.
For the 2013 park sealife, sveral mosasaurus were cloned. These mosasarus are set to live in a huge deepwater paddock. The clean and tropical waters of the parks island are ideal for them and a new atraction is under develoment : Small jurassic park tourist submarines, set to carry 6 people and a driver, will make tours through the mosasaurus paddock. The clean water in the paddock is also ideal for corals and the mosasaur paddock has a big reef where fish live who are a natural food supply for the mosasaurs. The JP submarines are also equipped with a light and have one big main proppeller . This will be a main attraction in the park. Advertising for the park show how this will look(se my picture, the machine there is the submarine). Mosasaurus dont lay eggs and a mosasaur female will carry its normally 2 youngs for 1 year until it gives birth to them.
