"Уроженцы Рыжей Пустыни, василиски - одни из наиболее крупных и грозных её обитателей. Вкратце этих существ можно охарактеризовать так - дьявольская гора мышц, сухожилий и костей в оболочке из чрезвычайно прочной природной брони. Я не шучу - она действительно крайне крепкая, не каждый её участок можно пробить даже с винтовки. Огромное тело рептилии опирается на четыре пары конечностей, три из которых заканчиваются одним единственным гипертрофированным когтем. Этими когтями, василиски очень даже лихо роют грунт, включая весьма твёрдые породы, а мощные и крепкие челюсти превращают камень в мелкое крошево. Зарывшись, они спокойно поджидают свою добычу, чтобы затем резко выскочить, взметая тучи песка и камней и разорвать жертву на части. Хотя, чаще всего они готовят для жертвы иной сюрприз. Будучи высшими аберрантами, эти твари как и все прочие подобные им монстры имеют в своём арсенале особый трюк. Часть породы, оставшуюся от рытья нор, монстры проглатывают. Там, внутри, химические процессы с участием арденита превращают чрево василиска в подобие плавильни, разогревая поглощённые камни и песок до состояния близкого к лаве. В момент внезапной атаки, василиск просто выплёвывает содержимое в свою добычу. Ошпаренная раскалённой тягучей породой, жертва оказывается дезориентированной и недееспособной, становясь лёгкой добычей. Эффективно. Зрелищно. Смертельно опасно. Говорю это со знанием дела, так как сам был очевидцем подобного действа. И лишь невероятное везение позволило нашему отряду в тот день вернуться домой в полном составе.

Василиск, существо большое, а значит даже зарывшись, спрятаться ему непросто. Поэтому они предпочитают местность с большим количеством камней и валунов, где оставшаяся на поверхности часть их громоздкой туши, похожей на обломок скалы, не выделяется на общем фоне. Поэтому, подобных мест стоит избегать или, по крайней мере, удваивать бдительность. Однако, даже среди голых песков вы не в безопасности. Ощутил лёгкую дрожь под ногами - значит у тебя лишь считанные мгновения чтобы отпрыгнуть подальше. Большинство ездовых животных чувствует присутствие василисков поблизости, стоит присматриваться к подобным знакам."
