Description This is pretty self-explanitory, I should think. I'm reuploading all of my fan manips to my "scraps" section. I'm hoping this is more acceptable.

*NOTE: I DO NOT OWN ANY PART OF THE "UNDERWORLD" FRANCHISE. IT IS OWNED BY SONY AND SCREEN GEMS.*

It is rather suprising just how much Kate and Rhona look alike. That is the reason Viktor spared Selene, because of her uncanny resemblance to Sonia.

that girl wit the long heir isn't selene its another girl named Sonya. well i think cuz it said sonya in the underworld 3 trailer.

It is rather self-explanitory, I would think. We know the one with the long hair is Sonja and the other with shorter hair is Selene. It's that they LOOK so similar; that was the point.

Thanks for your comment!

She looked like Selene a lot; it's an incredibly striking similarity. But I really liked that they did NOT have similar personalities. Sonja was much warmer, had a much quicker temper, was more straight-forward and even disrespectful with her father. Selene is very internal and quiet, much less emotionally honest both with herself and with others; and she was always deferential and respectful to Viktor until she learned the truth about him. Like any "sisters," they are vary different underneath the surface.

"But when he got to you, he just couldn't bear the thought of draining you dry... You, who reminded him so much of his precious Sonja, the daughter he condemned to death."

When you look at this picture, you can see just how right Kraven really was. They look so similar lol. Both of them are gorgeous. I was wondering if they would be able to find a woman like Kate Beckinsale, and somehow they did. Rhona is gorgeous.

The only thing that bothers me is that Sonja was supposed to be more demure than warrior-like according to the first movie; and she was blonde. But Rhona did a good job, me thinks.

terraphim In reply to gethsemane-butler [2009-02-17 12:10:21 +0000 UTC]

Blonde, yes, but why "demure?" The novelization said she was that way, but that writer is so often wrong about the universe he's writing. I was unhappy with the idea of Sonja: Warrior Princess at first as well, but after a period of adjustment, it made a lot of sense. Would Viktor's motherless daughter be anything BUT a warrior?

This is the way I see it: in the first film, we only ever see Sonja through the second-hand, improperly-transferred memories that Michael gets from Lucian. Everything's fuzzy, everything is incomplete and unclear. Poor Michael is not even sure what he's seeing, and is probably getting more emotions than images, but that is impossible to convey in film. So it doesn't matter what Sonja looked like in the first film, what Michael thinks happen. I'd imagine that after some time, when he has control of his new abilities, that he would be able to clarify what he is seeing in his mind in terms of Lucian's memories. Given time, he'd realize that Sonja had dark hair and that she died with actual dignity instead of shrieking her lungs out.

The author of the novelization writes good fanfiction, but as for the novelization of the movie? Not so much.

It seemed to me that she was trying too hard to be like the next Xena; I'm sure that she was raised to be a warrior (I mean, look at her father; he's a ruthless Hungarian warlord), and I have nothing against Sonja, but at times it seems to me that she's just trying too hard.

She was literally burned alive; people, immortal or no, tend to shriek their lungs out as they're being burned alive.

And it sort of ruined the continuity of the series for me. I love it all, don't get me wrong, but for some reason I tend to nitpick. XD

But you know, I wonder what happened to the girl who played Sonja in the first movie?

terraphim In reply to gethsemane-butler [2009-02-18 04:40:23 +0000 UTC]

The original Sonja, Jazmin Dammak, is a model and a former Miss Hungary in the Miss World competition. She's pretty, but in that overly-made-up, completely unnatural kind of way. She's not an actress and barely speaks any English.

I was skeptical about the "new" Sonja, but I ended up liking her immensely.

Oh, nitpick away. That's half the fun!

well, thats an error on the people that casted the forst movie. Sonja was supposed to be like Selene, and Selene was in-your-face kicking ass, and with dark hair and all that. I just think they screwed up on the first movie. And Rhona is a goddess.

gethsemane-butler In reply to Serujuunin [2009-02-17 02:31:39 +0000 UTC]

I think it's because people would have taken the "reminded Viktor of Sonja" thing on a literal level, meaning that they have to be pretty much clones to remind him. O_o

I like Kate Beckinsale better, but w/e. XD

Serujuunin In reply to gethsemane-butler [2009-02-17 03:18:14 +0000 UTC]

I thought I would, but I prefer Rhona now. ^^ Don't get me wrong, I love Kate too, she's gorgeous, but Rhona is amazing. ^^

And I don't know if it's that they have to be clones lol. I can defininately see the similarities between the two though

gethsemane-butler In reply to Serujuunin [2009-02-17 03:28:19 +0000 UTC]

I still prefer Kate over Rhona. And I really didn't like Sonja's death scene in RotL. It was too quick and she didn't scream.

Yeah, I didn't like that part either. Though it does kinda work towards her warrior-type image that she didn't scream. What bugs me is that its so discontinuous... There are so many descrepancies (forgive my atrocious spelling, I'm tired ) between each of the three movies... ><

Still think that Sonja and Selene are both good, and Rhona did a fantastic job in the third movie

But i would have liked to see the first stages of the relationship between Luican and Sonja, just outta curiosity.

Do you know that theres a fourth underworld movie is being made?

Money, probably. The film had a TINY budget. Hiring a 17-year old model to stand and scream for a day was probably very inexpensive. Wigs are very expensive.

gethsemane-butler In reply to Serujuunin [2009-02-17 03:50:43 +0000 UTC]

I know. But I think it would've been better for even Lucian's character because he's so passionate about her; I mean, sure, watching your spouse die right in front of you is terrible, but I think it would've made the scene much more emotional if it had showed her screaming and writhing like she does in the first movie. Same goes for when the camera switches to Sonja's chamber and Viktor is there crying for her. You don't hear anything, but it would've been more...how do you say...striking, I guess, if she'd been screaming and he would've heard her.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Serujuunin In reply to gethsemane-butler [2009-02-17 03:58:18 +0000 UTC]

This is true. Even a little bit of screaming... Though Lucian did enough for both of them. That was a little weird, his voice went all... high. :S

But yeah, I agree with you there. If she had screamed, it would have been more emotional, especially for Viktor, hearing his daughter die. He's kind of a jerk, so he deserves that torment.
