One of my earliest attempts at coloring in Photoshop with this cover to ABC A to Z Top Ten that I did circa 2005. Top Ten is one of my absolute favorite comics of the last decade with amazing art by Gene Ha and a brilliant storyline by Alan Moore, so it was a real pleasure to work on this image!This book's print run was relatively low so I assume a lot of you are seeing this for the first time! Enjoy!
Colored in Photoshop 5 with a Wacom Intuos Graphics Tablet.

ah a Top ten fan I always thought the series missed the radar a bit with a lot of people as it dosen't seem to get the reconigation it deserved. I can only say I read volume 1 and 2, still looking for 'Smax' on ebay and I regret reading 'beyond the farthest preceint' it was a terrible story and sadly I haven't seen anything from Alan Moore's works since. I understand there were some issues of a top ten season 2 but that was in 2009 and word is the series has been cancelled. Would you know anything about this? About the cover, was this cover also part of Top ten vol1 and 2 of the first season? I don't recall coming across it when buying the volumes.

cool cool, I hope to get a Wacom Cintiq tablet as soon as i can..... It would elevate my artistic abilities to a whole new level. Also, Getting a web site started wouldnt hurt. lol

wow thanks for the reply, forgive my ignorance, but i very confused about all these wild storm company technicalities, if im not wrong the alan moore books are now over at america's best? or top cow,

None of the Alan Moore ABC books are being published any more as he is writing anymore but it was through Wildstorm.
I actually did a 2 page story with Alan Moore when he was doing work at Awesome Comics with Rob Liefeld and Jeph Loeb about 14 years ago - something like that.

i see. what story was it? i mean ive seen u done some covers of Alan's stories like top ten and the cobweb , but i dont remember anything under your name. im curious to find out,
oh and i happen to check out some convention videos of you on youtube. it was the one where u did a bat girl sketch... cool, another question i never knew, do they pay you for the piece of work?cos i never knew how that worked... do hey pay you or is it for free but limited request..?

Boy, I don't even remember the name of it.
Most of the sketches I do are free, at a show I can 100+ free sketches and I usually do about 5 - 10 paid sketches at a show. Obviously the paid sketches are bigger, fully realized drawings.

This is really fantastic! The colors work so well. I always wondered if you had advice when picking harmonious color choices? You seem to do it so well. Also what kind of PS brush are you using for your colors?

I had a pretty good color education in college, fortunately. But I really just am ALWAYS looking at colors - in paintings, illustration, movies, animation, etc!
I color 80% with the default Pencil Tool using it at varying % of Normal color.

I loved the series so much, it was Alan Moore at his best. Every one involved in the project made a superb work. This image makes me remember the 12th original run numbers with detail and nostalgia.
