Inspired by 's and 's "FakeOff" for 2008, I suddenly had an urge to get back into the Fakemon business. We'll see how long it lasts...
I needed some sort of gimmick though, so I thought itd be cool to make pokemon that it would be more difficult to decide whether to evolve them or not. In other words, you'd loose a particular type if you evolved, but gain a different type. Well.... I... thought it was interesting anyway.
Here's my first two.
TERRAPHANT
(Elephant Pokemon)
Type: Ground/Grass
PokeDex Info: It likes to eat both grass and peanuts, which give its skin an extremely tough texture and strength. Its short size allows it to hide in tall grass in order to avoid predators, but it will attack by charging if provoked.
DRILLAPHANT
(Drill Tusk Pokemon)
Type: Ground/Steel
PokeDex Info: Drillaphant spends much of its time burrowing into hills and mountains with its drill tusks. It can spin these tusks around at high speed to burrow into even the most solid of rock.
Many explorers enjoy exploring the tunnels created by Drillaphants, as they wind on and on in random directions.

Thank you, much! I appreciate the compliments. I thought it clever. Maybe one day Nintendo will try it. I think it would add another factor in the decision to evolve. As of right now, it always seems like a no brainer. The only thing holding you back is expediency in certain move acquisitions.

Totally true. Personally I opt not to evolve some of my Pokemon purely for the cute factor, and unfortunately it makes them totally unusable in the grand scheme.

Probably - and a very good point: concepts don't take a great deal of artistic skill to come up with, and even the artistry doesn't take a hugely talented artist. For all those who say "Sell these to Nintendo", think about that for a bit. It'd be quite tricky to do, as they're easily able to generate thousands of these on their own.

Heh... well, I've been very busy in the sketch card market lately, so that's at the whim of my commissioners. I'll probably get caught up in the Pokemon Platinum obsession and start up again though in the near future.

Hey man, I love pokemon. And I've seen my share of fake mon. Honestly, these are some of the best designs I've seen. They fit in SO WELL with the pokemon world. Good job man, keep up the good work! Make more!

i really like their designs, interesting, but... having grass, then losing it, seems like an odd change... maybe have it be part rock?

You're right. It IS a bit wacky and hasn't been done in game before. See though, you're having trouble deciding because you don't like loosing the type! Its working!

what are you talking about? im not having trouble choosing the type, it just doesnt make a whole lot of sense to have an "dominant" type like grass, just being lost
and with the design, it just doesnt seem like grass even fits
but again, its your choice, that was simply a suggestion...

I tried to do this once, out of sheer morbid curiosity, but my failures at Fakemon always turned out suspiciously close to Charmander. Then again, who doesn't want a mini-fire-breathing dinosaur?
That said, these are fantastic. I LOVE the design for the bigger of the two. He looks badass and certainly looks like he could kick large amounts of it.

I think I'd loose steam part way through for the Fake-Off.... so I think I'll just keep posting some as I can for now and see where it takes me. I'm a busy guy this decade, and getting busier.
