Description
This is a piece I've been working on for some time now and finally got around to finishing. For all those wondering if the baby dragon remembers his past as the prince, or whether prince simply became the physical life vessel for the soul and consciousness of the baby from before, I've often wondered myself. To that end, I created this piece as a moment in which the baby remembers............ something.I had a lot of fun with it, and I admit this piece left me wishing I'd done a little better with it... but its still one that I'm proud of. And hey!! ROTH Fan art!! So .. damn right I'm happy with it XD

I am 100% shure that the new baby dragon was actualy blue and not purple like the one that gets killed. Still a great piece tough.

I think it is her baby and the Prince sacrificed his life to bring the baby back. At first I thought it was the Prince but then I realized that the mother Dragon simply wouldn't just make him her baby because all parents know, no one can replace your child.
And maybe the baby is remembering how he died and is surprised that the human who killed him sacrificed his own life to give it back to the dragon.

Wait a minute. If this baby is the redeemed prince, so his eyes and gem would be blue instead of purple, right? and the purple eyes dragon reflected on the water wold be the one the prince killed, right. I'm sorry, it's just an observation.
Anyway nice work, i love the details on the background and the expressions of the dragons

Technically you are absolutely correct... the eyes should be a bit more blue than I made them. Honestly, there was a convo I had with Carolyn about the subject in which it was simply stated that the baby's eyes are purple... I rather did not over-think it when I created this pic. But my own observation from the film was that baby's eyes seemed a bit blue-er after the transformation *shrug* So I give you that.

First off, I would like to say that your piece really does reflect the conflicting emotions of the Prince and what he did to be changed into a baby dragon to replace the one that he killed for the gem on it's chest.
Second, the background and the scenery really does wonders for this piece and it brings sense of clarity and tranquility in some sort of way for the Prince.

Yes, Carolyn left the story very 'open ended' as far as to know for certain what happened-- and I can imagine a full spectrum of possibilities for how the prince was transformed... She DEFINITELY gave indication that the prince-turned-baby-dragon remembered SOMETHING in his moment of looking back while being carried off by mom.... but of course, was this a mental chimera of the two? Haha.. I'm getting all deep on you here..

Well from what I see there nothing wrong with it. I do like that you draw the mother dragon more than the princess I love momma dragon ^^
