Kamen Rider is a real character in a show of the same name, and he falls into the category of Tokusatsu (literally means "special effects") referring to the gratuitous overuse of special effects in a show. Also falling under the category: Ultraman, Super Sentai (Power Rangers,) Godzilla, and Spiderman. You know--super hero shows, giant monster shows, battling giant robot shows, etc.
So there's no surprise that he reminds you of the Power Rangers. [link]
