This was a model for Gundamrx, he printed it himself.

How does one acquire said models to 3d print? I know you have shapeways, but it would be nifty to have a Patreon option where you can release some none commissioned pieces or maybe have group commissioned pieces.

Models for sale are listed at the bottom of my journals. Most of the time, commissioners only print them for themselves but you can always try to contact them to see if they can make it available for you ( there is always their name on my screenshots ).
I don't have a Patreon, making people pay me for designing figurines and then making them pay again to print them doesn't seem right. Prints cost a lot and people are few to be interested yet. Maybe later I could make group commissions on Patreon, when it's a bit more developed.

I've seen that purchasable via shapeways pre-printed, just looking for an option to get access to printable STLs ( or even OBJs ) as I already support a few 3d modelers on Patreon who post their personal projects to patreon and share printable projects. You can still have the shapeways, but it would be nice to have an option for the growing community that has 3d printers of their own.

The problem with giving printable files is that any asshole can open a shop on Shapeways and start selling models he didn't do, or print them on their own printer and sell them at conventions etc. I'm sure some people wouldn't hesitate to do that.

As someone who has had to deal with theft, I've found that users who post to patreon and put a $5-10 membership required to access said printables it limits access to those willing to pay and reduces random folks looking for an easy grab and repost.
I'm also not telling you to post everything for free or to patreon, and yeah there is may be some folks who will take advantage of that, but 99% of dA are users who post 2D works knowing full well they could see it on a mouse pad on a comic con, still doesn't stop them from sharing, so it all comes down to what you're comfortable sharing. Say you do open a Patreon, and once and a while you release a model to your patrons ( you can even set payout to only happen when you post a finished project ) that you feel comfortable letting go or maybe that hasn't done so well on shapeways.1. it gets you some revenue and 2. Sometimes lets you do a project you want to do rather than being just focused on commissions. Heck, I'm funding a guy right now who is designing a mech/hamburger model to 3d print, I was meh at first but dang it turned out cool, and can wait to print it.
There are also services like; www.watermark3d.com/ to help claim what's yours ( personally I just put a big obnoxious logo on the bottom of my printables so at least folks know where it comes from as most who steal do it because they only know how to click upload ).
