Description

Everything just has to end someday, but sometimes it ends when you don't it to end... We've been hearing rumors of Affleck departure from his Batman role long before the infamous JL moive was released (tho I loved it), and now it seems like Cavil won't be playing Superman again either (he was my favorite Supes).

If Affleck departure can be solved by a soft reboot of his characters awful developement in BvS, then Cavil's departure can permenatly end the DCEU as we know it. It started with him after all... at least we have Wonder Woman!

Although there has been no confirmation of either of them exiting the DCEU, nothing proves that they will return to their respective roles in the future with "The Batman" being in production hell, and "Supergirl" being a bigger priority for WB than the sequel to "Man of Steel"

No mater what eventually happens,Β  I'm grateful for these versions of Batman and Superman! This chapter may be over, but a new and (hopefully) more brightier one is ahead!

Just watch, Gal Gadot will leave next and then DCEU's really fucked. Course right now I could careless either way. Seems everything good has to end someday.

These rumors are so untrue on the surface. Henry is DEFINITELY staying. Ben is most likely staying as well. We'll all be looking back at this in 5 years and laugh at how ridiculous everybody was being over this.Β

let's hope Gal Gadot eventually appears as Wonder woman in the Arrowverse at some point

Let's hope not. The Arrowverse is an insult to the DC universe as a whole. I'm shocked most people seem okay with their complete mistreatment of characters and their HORRIBLE writing/costumes/actors/decisions/budget spending.Β

I don't think that's possible since Wonder Woman (just like Batman) is a character for the silver screen only, but even if the character could appear, she'd be re-casted for the TV appearance (like Superman)

I'm not surprised. Personally I felt DCEU was doomed to fail already from the start when I saw Man of Steel. As I've said earlier in one of my journals: WB should make a new cinematic universe properly by abandoning the rest of the movies and only keep Wonder Woman from DCEU. I really love Justice League (my favourite DCEU-movie after WW which is the best!), but it's too tied with the other movies. WW was the movie which made me accept Wonder Woman, similar to the first X-Men movie which made me take the X-Men seriously. While the DCAU-portrayl of Diana was great, I never took her seriously. Sure, she's this superstrong yadda yadda. But I always get the Golden Age vibes each time I think of her. And WW running in a "swimsuit" didn't make things better.

WB has made too many mistakes. They had a successful animated universe which started in 1992. Instead of ending it in 2006 they should have let another key figure continue Bruce Timm's work. While we did get Harley Quinn and Batman, it was a really strange movie which contradicted DCAU a lot. Not only that, "DCAU" is only a fan name. WB has never acknowledged it, so many fans don't even know of DCAU's existence. Instead they believe that BTAS, STAS and JL are separate shows which have nothing to do with each other.

What did we get instead? Lots of animated shows of varying quality, and they still couldn't be superior to the DCAU.

As for the live action movies, the Batman-franchise had its ups and downs: Batman was great, but its sequel was too dark. Then Batman Forever began the campy route but it was still great. Everything ended with the a train wreck called Batman & Robin and the franchise was rebooted. Batman Begins was a masterpiece, then came the overrated crime movie sequel The Dark Knight with an emo Batman who didn't even act like the comic book Batman. And because WB and the fans demanded it, we got an unnecessary third movie where Nolan spiritually killed off the character. Way to go WB.

But hey, what about the Arkham-games (a rhetorical question)? Arkham Asylum was great - perhaps the series' masterpiece. City was the overrated sequel which clearly wasn't a PS2 Spider-Man 2. Origins was unjustly bashed while it was the game I had wished City to be. Origins Blackgate was a decent but boring Metroidvania. And Knight? Pfft, I didn't touch that one but hey, Batman was killed off again!

There are so many more examples but let's stop here.

MCU is quite boring nowadays. I mostly enjoyed Phase One, the Cap- and the Ant-Man-movies. But at least they have been successful during the 10 years of its run. Why can't WB be as successful?

Even if WB/DC makes a reboot, they'll only ruin the franchise again because that's what they do.

I don't really share your negative opinion concerning the MCU, DCEU (and even todays DC animated films)

but to each their own
