Here's a new picture for this year's Spooktober, and this time we'll finally deep dive into Emily's backstory as told in this deviation way back
The young woman accompanying Emily is her best friend Charlotte, and believe it or not, the two of them used to be very close
One beautiful Summer day in 1948, the two friends decided to attend a 20s themed party at the mansion of a very wealthy young man by the name of Tracy
While Lottie here knew the guy from childhood, Emily wasn't acquainted with him, and they seemed to get along well when they met at this party
Unfortunately for Emily, her best friend had a crush on him, and dreamed of marrying him eventually, so when Charlottie saw her best friend getting along so well with him she became insecure that Emily would steal him from her
It's also important to mention that she wasn't exactly a very stable person mentally
So she did the most rational thing to do in these situations: she got a gun and murdered her best friend in cold blood
Poor Emily would only come to her senses some time after she was shot, and she found herself already inside the same mansion where she had been murdered, which was now abandoned after the tragedy
It's also important to note that no one was found guilty of this murder, since the investigation did not lead to anyone, and Lottie got away scot free with her murder

This is a comic that I've been wanting to do for ages
Also now you can finally see how Emily's hair looked like back when she was still alive!
Though what I regret the most is that Emily's dress is impossible to pose dynamically, here I want to make her run while only being able to tilt her body and have one of her heels peek from her skirt. I guess she wouldn't be able to run that far with that dress either lol

EDIT 26/08/2023: Redid some of the panels for Emily's death anniversary! I think the second half of the comic looks much better now
