wow certainly a big difference. you did a great job on the post processing with this. i have a few images just like this where post processing was a big must.
It kind of makes you happy that you could turn it into such a masterpiece and sad for not being able to get it like that out of the camera

I don't think it's sad at all that I couldn't get it like that out of the camera. The camera is only able to "see" mechanically, so I just use it as a basic starting point to convey what I see with my eyes, not as the immediate source of a final product. I probably could have gotten an image close to this had I owned an expensive fisheye lens and some graduated filters, but the way I see it, those effects can be recreated easily in Photoshop, so why spend all that extra money on equipment?
Thanks for your comments!

What are the chances of you making a tutorial on this process? That's a pretty amazing difference from the original pics.

Well, I don't really remember exactly what I did (I processed this a very long time ago), so I don't think I can make a tutorial. Sorry

That's cool. I think I've pretty much figured it out ... or at least a way to kind of replicate the same effect. Either way, this is an awesome pic, dude.

Thanks. And although I can't make a full tutorial, I can speculate that the steps I took with this image were probably something like this:
1. Shoot one set of lighter images for the foreground, and another set of darker images for the sky.
2. Stitch the lighter images together, and stitch the darker images together.
3. Overlay the lighter stitched image on top of the darker one in Photoshop and erase the lighter areas of the sky to reveal the darker image beneath
4. Merge the layers, boost contrast & saturation, add a vignette, add a yellowish tinge, blur the upper portion of the image, and add a border.

Nice! That's a good idea. I tried the merge to HDR program in Photoshop and I got ... mixed results. It's probably best to do it by hand. Thank man.
