awesome tiki! how do you carve them-- a dremel? how much do you charge for one this size?

Thanks for asking. The smaller tikis are carved with a hook knife and my favorite, an Xacto with #11 blades. The Xacto is nice to use because the blades are thin, very sharp and cheap! When they dull or break I toss them and start with a fresh blade. Note sent...

i just started carving tikis (very non-traditional) and i was wondering what you use, because yours are just badass. i was given a dremel rotary tool with many attachments, and i would feel pretty lousy getting this nice piece of hardware and not using it, so i'll have to use exactos for detail work. my first two were UTTER CRAP. I think I could actually sell the third. I think I'm going to stick to pendants for now.

The Dremel is a great tool. As with anything, you need to find the tools that are right for you. I started with a Dremel as well and have since moved on. I still use it quite a bit for sanding. Knives/chisels will give you cleaner lines.
