love how anceint some of these look.
is there any kind of tempering process needed for the wood first?
im getting into woodwork, and wanting to build bongo drums, but two differnt people have told me two differing things-
one said leave the wood out for over a year in a dry spot to get weathered, and the other siad you HAVE TO USE freshly cut down wood..
if you dont mind me asking, which should i do? i want the wood to be varnishable and hang-up-on-the-wall-able...

All depends on the wood. Hardwood should be cured. Palm should be cut fresh. Sorry - no definative answer
