While I was in Philadelphia this past week, I was watching my brother row his race with the eight when one hell of a storm came up. I wished then, as the rain came down in torrents and the wind blew the river in mists all over its surface, that I had a lightning trap to capture the storm over their heads. It would have been incredible, with the shell half-swamped on the river and lightning overhead. And here you submit this, almost as if to make fun of me. I suppose a 25-second exposure would have helped, as you seem to have used. Darn that camera. I'll remember that next time, though.
How many attempts did this take, and do you have more than one successful lightning shot from that?

I ask this, because the frong prince guy from palace took a lightning shot at some point too... and it looked something like this [I can't remember, it might be completely different than this]

I am so jealous right now...... i want a camera that i can take pictures of lighting with... my A90 has long exposures, but i have to keep ahead of the lighting and try to figure out a pattern... which i cant.... i need a BETTER camera for it.... i am incredibly jealous, great photo by the way *smile*

dankeschön - die Färbung des Himmels habe ich übrigends durch einen "falschen" Weißabgleich hinbekommen...
gebraucht habe ich so ca. 20-30 photos mit jeweils 20-30sec Belichtungszeit - war also ne gute weile dran, aber da es ja eh bei mir im Zimmer war, war's nicht sooo langweilig

good point...makes enough sense....but sometimes i look at something whilst browsing that seems interesting and then its not or i just dont like it so i dont fullview and i probably miss out because im a jerk like that but OH WELL.

Das Blitzknippsen hat leider rein garnix mit Reflexen zu tun, wenn man den Blitz sieht, dann isses eh immer schon zu spät...
Trick ist, eine lange Belichtungszeit zu nehmen und dann zu hoffen das in dieser Zeit (bei mir 25sec) ein Blitz kommt... ansonsten ist halt wieder ein Bild umsonst gemacht...

das Blitzknippsen ist ja leider so ne ziemliche Glückssache... von dem her bin ich mir sicher, wenn du einen gut erwischt, sieht's 100x besser aus als das hier

denke nicht, ich hätte mir halt noch etwas ins bild geholt, wie eine stadt mit einem kirchturm, das war halt mein ziel, aber blitze sind dauernd woanders eingeschlagen

jupp ich weiß was du meinst, am Tag davor bin ich extra rausgefahren um Blitze zu Fotografieren wie sie ein Windkraftwerk einschlagen... leider ist das Gewitter 2km dran vorbeigezogen...
