-Not bad for an elf. - said the black haired woman as Mary turned to face her - but I'm afraid tha... - she interrupted her words to avoid an arrow, gleaming with lightning, that passed just by her side.

In quick succession, Mary shot the other two arrows she was holding in her hand, though she had to grant to her opponent was fast. Readying another triad of projectiles, she took cover behind a platform just in time to avoid the gunshots she got in response.

-Not bad at all, tree hugger. - the tone of the human was now angrier - You are rather good, but you'll need more than that.

Mary remained silent, not really listening to what the woman said but to what she did and its direction, just behind the vehicle; steps ceased, and a low yet perceptible sound of cloth brushing against metal were all she needed. With a quick move, the young elf shot an arrow from the side of her cover towards the first platform of the scaffold, at the rear of the Steel Behemoth. Even though the woman dressed in black managed to avoid the wound, it was enough to make her lose balance, causing her to fall with a loud sound on the floor. Mary moved again, this time putting some distance between her and the maintenance platform.

-Right, I tried to go easy on you! - now, that woman was really upset.

Again, Mary listened carefully, infusing a new arrow with an elemental spell. Nothing. Then a metallic click and a blue, glowing orb traced an arch from behind the maintenance platform towards the elf girl hiding place, who jumped to the side just in time to avoid being hit by the exploding energy. Before she could find some new cover, a knife came flying towards her, barely giving her some room to duck below it and move out of the open. Silence again. This time, she moved, trying to flank the spot from which the knife came. She catched up just as a silhouette was moving towards the stairs and shot it, managing to hit it right in the back. An angered, high pitched scream was the first answer, followed by three spheres of light that came out of the extended hand of the wounded figure, ascending at first and then throwing themselves towards its target. The young ranger jumped out of the way but got thrown a bit further by the explosion, leaving her stunned for a while.

-You're dead, bitch! YOU HEAR ME! - the rage, mixed with pain, was enough to bring Mary out of the dizziness.

Again, more lights ascended towards the roof, throwing themselves at the elf girl once the path was clear. She had a hard time avoiding them, using every bit of agility she had. Those things seemed to be able to "aim" by themselves, helping their user to remain in hiding and covering her moves. A new group rose from the ground, beyond the place where the first soldier was still sleeping, forcing her to move again and find new cover, this time barely being able to stay out of their way. She knew there wouldn't be a next time, so it was time to do something very stupid...

Mary waited, until the next light orbs came up, just on the corner of the hangar that was next to the door. She watched them go up as she readied a new arrow, pointing up so it would make an arch just below the trajectory of the light spheres. She released the bow string just as the orbs were throwing themselves at her, giving her just enough time to dart under the Steel Behemoth, which took the impact. Still, it was enough to leave her ears ringing and a piercing pain on her temples. Carefully coming out of her hiding place, she could hardly hear the moaning that came from the same place where the orbs originated a few moments ago. Carefully, she approached the location until she saw her assailant, lying on the floor with a wooden stick coming out of her belly, right where the liver is.

-Not bad for a human - the young elf told to her defeated opponent - but we'll have to fing a better place to talk, now...

Outside, engines and several voices could be heard approaching, closer and closer. The raven haired girl smiled, still grasping the arrow stuck in her belly.

-Good luck with that, tree hugger... - and then, she fainted.
