Of course, the distinction between subspecies, species, and sister genera is very much a matter of arbitrary opinions. It always has been and it always will be. But then again, Triceratops currently has two species, so does Thescelosaurus, and Quetzalcoatlus, so why not Tyrannosaurus too? There’s really no point in taking sides if you have any common sense…at least not in terms of strong academic conviction. In terms of personal preference though, I think T. regina and T. imperator are very cool names, so…hey? I’m on board with embracing them. The idea has been proposed and no matter how many people want to dismiss this, you can’t kill an idea.

And while this will hardly make my list of 2022 paleo-finds (let's not be ridiculous), you should give this recent study credit for highlighting the different morphs present within Tyrannosaurus, something that has been ignored for a while, instead of channeling your inner fanboy and throwing a T.rex-sized tirade over such inane topics. This paper doesn’t really change anything about T. rex itself, it just adds more Tyrannosaurus. I thought the saying was, “The more the merrier”?
