Gender: Female
Year built: 1904
Put into SCR Service: 1941
Shed Allocation: Upper Knapford
Work: Local Passenger Service on the Northwest Tidmouth-Aberdeen mainline
Bio: Stratford works built Molly in 1904 for express passenger service on the Great Eastern Railway. She and her siblings were painted in the elegant GER Prussian blue with red lining and brass fittings. They took the heaviest, most important services, even pulling royal trains from time to time. As the years went on though, they were replaced by the larger S69's and demoted to less important services. They continued to do so in their LNER days and continued to do so until 1941. SCR needed all the help they could get during this time of war and Molly was one of many engines brought in to help. When the war ended, she was allocated to Upper Knapford and put on secondary express services from there to Vivarstown. In the '60s, bigger engines came along and Molly was reassigned to Local stopping services, which is what she continues to do today.
Personality: Molly is a fast, strong engine. She's proud of her speed and is happy to use it as one of the faster engines at Knapford.Β Being a sensitive engine, she often worries about fading into the background. Sometimes taking "locals" makes her feel less important and sad, but in the end, she will usually see that it is a vital part of operations and an important task after all. Molly has a peacekeeper attitude, tends to be rather sensible, and is looked upon as a "big sister" by some of the other engines. However, because of her sensitivity, she can be easily embarrassed or upset by conflict, and will steam away to avoid it, but will usually have the courage to do what she thinks is right. Molly likes to be as good as everyone else and wants the other engines to think the best of her.
