LEVI X READER (read it and weep)

A huge hunk of rock thumped into the ground, metres from where you stood, sending up an eruption of dirt and dust in all directions. The building to your right suddenly exploded- you only just managed to zip out the way with your 3DMG, and landed on a nearby roof. A huge titan, almost a 15-metre class, had stumbled into it- the nape of its neck slashed into oblivion. A flash of green and black darted past, fast as lightening, swords whirring.

Your heart skipped to your throat. Only one person in the Recon Corps moved that fast. Lance Corporal Levi. Your face grew hot and your pulse beat erratically; even in the midst of one of the greatest fights of your life, he affected you. Frozen in awe, you watched as Levi arced round in a tight somersault, to land on the roof, feet away from your immobile form. You unfroze, as chilling sight caught your eye. Titans- six- rampaged down the street toward you, faces stretched into macabre grins.

“Hey brat,” Levi snapped at you, giving you an excuse to stare into his molten steel eyes. He was sexier than usual when he was angry. “Tch, are you fucking retarded? I said, get out of here!” He turned, attention on the lumbering titans ahead. Suddenly, your sharp [e/c] eyes noticed a massive steeple upon a half destroyed building next to the house you stood on. It was leaning precariously- one good shove from breaking clean off. A light bulb pinged in your brain- and a plan formed.

Tensing your muscles, you sprang into action, causing Levi to curse loudly and order you to return. You ignored him. The titans were picking up speed- eager to eat yourself and the Corporal; you had to time this perfectly. Swinging round, slowly at first, you waited till the titans were almost directly beneath the tower, then sped up- smashing feet first into the weakest section of the building.

Your plan had worked. The building toppled, squashing the titans in the process. Only when the threat had been removed, did the pain in your ankles make itself known, harsh and agonising. The bricks you perched on began to slip, and suddenly your injured ankles gave out, leaving you tumbling with a section of building, ground rushing up to meet you. You realised too late, you were probably going to die now- more and more building was falling, crumbling down around you. You swore as loud and as violently as you could muster- you’d never got to tell Levi how much you loved him.

Something hard hit the back of your head. And all of a sudden, it was very black, for what felt like weeks. After a while, through the smothering dark, you were vaguely aware of someone shouting, something grabbing you tightly around the waist, than someone shaking you. You tried to wave them off- you were too tired to wake up yet.

But damn, they were persistent, and reluctantly, you prised your eyes open, pushing your [h/l] [h/c] out your face, to discover who this idiot was. You saw nothing but blackness; you blinked hard several more times. Nothing changed.

“Ahh, I’m blind,” you wailed, feeling tears well in your useless eyes. Something, no someone, ‘tch’ed to your left, causing you to jump out of your skin.

“You’re not blind idiot, its just fucking dark.” You froze. That voice (and cursing) could belong to one man alone. One short, grumpy, sexy man. You felt your face heating, and your palms began to sweat.

“What happened?” You asked, nervously, “...sir!” You managed to squeak out after.

“You mean after you were a total moron, brat? You knocked over that building, knocked yourself out, and nearly died. I tried to grab you out, and we got buried in the rubble.” He said, voice still managing to maintain its bored monotone. Polar opposite, your entire being swelled with fear and panic, breath coming out in short bursts.

This was pretty much your worst nightmare: being stuck in a cold, dark, tiny space. Gripping your sides, you tried to hold in the sobs that began to silently wrack your body. Levi must have heard, but said nothing- and patted your back slightly. You were grateful for this, but you felt pathetic; especially next to humanity’s strongest soldier. Time passed, you managed to calm down, and decided to distract yourself.

Stretching out, your hands tentatively traced the walls encasing you. The ceiling you could just reach, and you followed the rough walls round. Your fingers dipped into something wet- a small trickle of water. At least we won’t die of thirst you thought passively. You continued your sensory search- till out of the blue (more accurately, the black), your fingers pressed into something hard, toned, covered in material. Levi sucked in a breath and the thing you were touching tensed. Crap.

“Cadet, please, give me warning if you’re going to grope my stomach,” you couldn’t be certain in the dark, but it sounded like he was amused. Shakily, you began to breath again- you’d been certain he was going to flip out. You realised there was a high probability you were permanently trapped- so threw caution to the wind, and spoke.

“Levi?” You began.

“Lance Corporal to you brat.” Levi growled.

“Levi, are we going to die here?” You asked. It didn’t quite seem real, the entire situation. Your brain had not come to terms with the idea death was coming.

“Maybe, maybe not, depends if anyone has the idiocy to try and dig us out,” He replied, voice still flat. “I know Eren saw what happened- he was on a roof not far away. It would be just like Jaeger to be stupid enough to try.” Did he sound hopeful? You certainly were. It was silent for a few moments.

“So Levi,” you relished the name on your tongue, “got a special lady waiting for you back at head quarters?” You asked, with as much nonchalance as you could muster.

“I don’t see why you think I’d tell you brat.” Levi muttered.

“[Name],” You said quickly.

“What?” he sounded confused.

“My name is [name].” You said quietly, curling yourself into a ball. Hell, your ankles still killed, but you did your best to ignore them, and closed your eyes, trying to daydream yourself to somewhere nicer. You were interrupted.

“I know your name brat,” Levi huffed. “And I don’t,” Levi... replied? Your spirits lifted immeasurably. “You?” he asked. Did you detect interest leaking into his voice? You did a mental victory dance- you were having a conversation!

“No, the guy I like barely even notices me.” You explained. Not totally true- Levi noticed you a lot, mainly because he was constantly punishing you with extra chores for getting in trouble. But romantically, you highly doubted it, even though you sometimes caught him staring at you across the food hall...

“Have you tried telling him how you feel?” Levi asked, managing to revert back to total disinterest. “If he doesn’t know, he won’t act.”

“No...” That was a good point, but it would be unbearably awkward, and it was probably punishable to admit to a superior you wanted every inch of their body. You blushed at the very thought. “I couldn’t, he’s not really that approachable, and the chance of him returning my feelings is miniscule.” Smaller than miniscule even.

“Oh really, and why is that?” His voice was low- you heard him shift slightly. You flinched as something, a hand, touched your leg, long, strong fingers setting every nerve on fire. You stopped breathing, and hoped to the gods he couldn’t hear your heart, thumping away in your chest, totally out of control. He must have been close somewhere, you could feel his breath ruffling your hair ever so slightly.

“Be-because, he’s... he’s well, amazing, and I’m-,” you spluttered. There was a rustling, and the breathing got closer, hands moving up to your waist, where they hovered gently, making your mouth go dry. You could hardly think straight. Was this really happening, or was this some unconscious dream?

“...You’re?” He prompted, voice lazy, startling you- mere inches from your ear.

“Well... he probably thinks I’m pretty average...” You sighed, because you thought the same. You weren’t as pretty as Christa, not as brave as Mikasa, not as... vivacious... as Hanji. True you could kill a titan pretty damn well, but looks wise, you felt so-so. Those thoughts were chased away however, as something soft, and warm trailed down your jaw line, causing a quiet moan to escape, unbidden. Levi’s lips.

He spoke, lips finally stopping above your own, barely touching- just enough to drive you crazy. Your body practically trembled and a hand moved off your waist to caress your back- running ever more intricate patterns across the sensitive skin.

“Shame he thinks that.” Levi’s voice was positively husky. “Because I think you’re very much above average...” He let his voice trail off. You closed your eyes. Waiting for him to kiss you. Instead, you heard a rustle- and felt his warmth leave you as he moved away. Disappointment and humiliation quickly drowned you.

“I’m so sorry sir,” You muttered, rejection bringing utter melancholy. You shuffled away, somewhat hindered by what you suspected were badly bruised ankles, to the edge of the tiny cave, and leant against the cold hard rock. Trying to cheer yourself up, you told yourself you’d tried- you’d given it a shot- that was better than not saying anything at all. Didn’t help much.

“[name], where do you think your going?” Levi asked, irritation and impatience easy to detect. You spoke reluctantly- years of obedience was a hard habit to break.

“Nowhere. I’m here Corporal.” You replied, trying desperately to wipe the sadness from your voice, and only partially succeeding. You were so absorbed in trying to dam the tears building up behind your eyelids, you didn’t hear him move, till suddenly two strong, muscled arms grabbed under your knees and around your back. You yelped, and automatically struggled against the capture, but his grip was of steel- like his eyes- and held you fast, pulling you into what you guessed was his lap. Fingers gently brushed around your eyes, feeling the tears escaping.

“Stupid brat,” Levi muttered, “Why are you crying?”

“Because... I- I thought you didn’t...” You could hardly speak, confusion choking your sentence.

“Tch, speak properly idiot. If you’re referring to the fact I didn’t kiss you, that’s because I want to be able to see your face when I do. You don’t see yourself clearly. You’re beautiful.” The words were passionate. The tone was not. How could a voice that bored sound so sexy?! Your face flamed and you let your fingers slowly float up, and feel the face above you. Tough jaw, small nose- a practically palpable stoic expression. However, when your fingers got to his mouth, you could feel it. A tiny smile.

Letting your own face crack into a smile too, you closed your eyes and snuggled into Levi’s toned chest, letting him wrap his arms tight round your shoulders and waist, bringing your head under his chin. A sigh of content ran through him. Silently, you prayed for a miracle; that you’d both be able to somehow get out of the rubble. It was urgent.

Because Lance Corporal Levi owed you a kiss- a debt you’d make sure he paid.

Extended ending
Eren’s massive titan form continued to sift through the rubble of the fallen building. It’d been two days since the wall had been sealed, and the city was being searched for survivors. Hanji stood by, barely suppressing the urge to yell at Eren to hurry up. The titan boy grabbed a large wall- still just about it one piece owing to the fact it was reinforced with iron struts, built into the bricks. After a lot of heaving, he managed to peel it off- and chucked it to the side, and would’ve continued digging if not for Hanji’s excited squealing.

For sitting in a dip in the rock, were two small figures, wrapped in green, huddled tightly together- a glimpse of jet-black and [h/c] standing out vividly in the afternoon sun. Slowly, the raven-haired man looked up, eyes squinting in a mole like fashion; as Hanji rushed down to greet to them.

“What took so long shitty-glasses?” The voice was monotone, as usual- but hugely distracted. Hanji found she did not need to answer, for Levi was intensely busy, kissing overpoweringly what looked to be a very flushed [name]...
