Here's what I think.
If the Breaking Point weren't thrown into lava, it could be possible for Peridot to either smash it, or hide it somewhere so no one can find it.
However, Bismuth had planned to shatter a diamond. Since diamonds are the strongest material on Earth, the point of the Breaking Point would have to be diamond-tipped. Diamonds are not considered a metal, so I doubt metal powers are able to dismantle it, as Peridot's powers are still weak.

Also, what if peri used the metal powers on the knob of the breaking point (the cylinder), could she break it's function?

She might be able to dislodge the knob by putting it out of place.
Of course, we don't really know the mechanics and the inside of the Breaking Point.

Well other than the fact that she could probably break the weapon by pulling back on the knob too far (causing the whole thing to break)
