Description BEFORE YOU COMMENT SAYING HOW CRUEL OF A PERSON I AM, READ THIS:

If you are about to comment saying that this is absolutely cruel and that hunting wolves is wrong and that I'm a sick creep, I must say:

When you hang a wolf on your wall, you're using the pelt. In order to get just the pelt, you need to do something with the bones and meat. What do you do with the bones? I don't care. Whatever the hell you like. What do you do with the meat? Eat it! It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

This drawing is (c) Me.

If you want to put it in your group, note me for permission.

At the moment the only group that is allowed to use this is Anti-Wolf.

I knew wolves could climb, but I never knew they could climb so well....those Alaskan wolves never stop amazing me, they remind me of people on staroids. And they learn so fast. A little scary....
And I would defend myself before it lunged, but studieing wolves has taught me what they do when hunting, defending, and threatening, so I could tell if they were willing to eat me or not, but most of the times, you cant be to positive, so I'd pick fight over flight anyday.
When it comes to wolves, a pack is usually just bluffing and trying to get you to leave. If you dont leave, they see you as a predator to their pups(and just about EVERYTHING kills or eats wolf pups) or as a trespasser and then they kill you. If it's a lone wolf, then usually it is trying to kill you as a prey item. The same thing happens with elderly, sick or injured animals such as lions, tigers, coyotes, hyenas, bears, pumas, etc. When it becomes harder to obtain food the can and will attack and devour humans. It happens all the time. The life cycle isnt a one way street like we wish to believe, even predators can fall prey to things they'd normally kill themselves. But we need to show our authority when encountering a wild animal.
But the pack/lone wolf thing doesnt really work in Alaska or yellowstone any more....the world is crazy now....

It was always either the math or the history/civics teacher for me....
In 6th grade it was my english teacher though....

No, its not the wolves that climb. XD It's the people that climb the tree to get away from the wolves. Wolves packs are willing to kill humans as prey too. I believe that's what happened to Candice Berner (May she rest in peace).

My english teacher in 6th grade was a fat chick. o_o

I know, the Alaskan wolves can get wild. And the yellowstone wolves, they most likely did kill her. But as I said, they dont only kill for food, but if they believe you are a threat, and you dont leave, they WILL kill you, almost no doubt about it. I've seen wolves do crazy things for their offspring, it's simply amazing what they'll do to ensure their pup's survival. But when a wolf kills, the media gets envolved and guns are drawn, but if a wolf learns that it's relitively easy to kill a human, than they will start killing for food. Living things are always looking for things that will make their life easier. I've heard of a case of assumed wolf murder that was proven false after a series of tests done on the body that proved that a wolf had clearly killed the human, but had left it there and coyotes scavenged off of it. But most of the time, a wolf eats their kill, taking enough energy from their meal to replace the energy they had used to take it down, like most animals. Wolves really have started to notice how easy we are to kill, but if we fight back an attack and show them we arent that easy prey, and should be thought of as predators, then less people may get killed by wolves.

Lol....fat chick....

Not here. The wolves here mostly only eat about 1/2 of what they kill on average. The things that they do kill are eaten when they're still alive a lot of the time. It's a horrible sight.

EchoTheWhiteWolf In reply to ThatOneKiddo [2010-06-22 23:19:01 +0000 UTC]

No offense, but I've heard people say that wolves eat things alive, and that is a little....um ....hard to believe, but if I see it my self or am given any sort of....well evidence....I'm not so sure that it's true....no animal has ever been seen eating another animal alive except for snakes, spiders, and some fish....not that I dont believe you. But if it really does happen, then I bet it is a horrible sight. I have always watched the pack hunting and have always seen them kill an animal first. But just to ask, how can you tell if it's alive or dead and how do get that close?
And yes, a wolf may not eat all of it's kill, especially when in an area that has humans or other predators in it.

....Holy crap, I sound like a Know-it-all....Sorry for that

I've seen it. It's disguisting. I'm not sure how they get that close, but if I were them I would be out of there ASAP. It's especially horrible if the animal is pregnant. I've seen pictures of dead deer that have had the fetus ripped out of them. It's sad.

No you don't. Trust me, I've dealt with a lot of know it alls, and you are definately not acting like one.

EchoTheWhiteWolf In reply to ThatOneKiddo [2010-06-23 16:15:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks
I have never seen an animal get eaten alive, but I'm sure it happens one way or another. I have seen pictures of animals that were pregnant get killed, but it was by an aligator and one was by a bear, not a wolf, although it probably does happen, I'm sure. That must be horrible to watch. And yea, it's a bit suicidal to get close to a feeding wolf. They normally wont leave their kill without a fight. I do happen to know a lot about how a wolf hunts, and I have actually seen a wolf get killed just by traveling through the forest, which has its own dangers. I have seen many, many wolves get killed while hunting, elk kicks to the chest or head, getting stabbed by their antlers, brakeing vital bones, and getting shot on site by humans, but it doesn't happen that often, and most pack mortalities happen during winter. Most animals will go for the sick or weak prey, and a pregnant cow elk will appear to be sick or weak or slow. No animal is all good, especialy the wolf....
poor elk....

Have you seen some of the videos on youtube? One of them was a badger chasing 2 wolves away from their kill. It was pretty awesome, I must say. Yes, the elk and deer populations are going down fast because of the wolves.

EchoTheWhiteWolf In reply to ThatOneKiddo [2010-06-23 23:39:44 +0000 UTC]

I searched up that video on youtube before replieing, yea that was some hilarious stuff!
I know elk and deer populations are decreasing because of wolves and wolf hunting IS very very necessary, dont get me wrong, but I recently had to explain this same thing to someone else:
If A predator population causes their prey population to decline, then more and more of the predators offspring will not be able to find food and starve. Then their population will go down. That will give the prey populatin a chance to breed more and their numbers spike up. Then, when the prey numbers rise, more predators will be able to find food and their numbers will rise, and the cycle will start again. This process has been happening for thousands of wolf generations, and will keep happening if we continue to let nature run it's course. But something we've done has caused the wolf numbers to spike up to unnatural numbers, so the elk have suffered terrible loss. So we need to right our wrong done by reducing wolf numbers, you're absolutely right

And sorry my responses are always so long....

ThatOneKiddo In reply to EchoTheWhiteWolf [2010-06-24 02:23:14 +0000 UTC]

I don't get why people don't get that! It's not a hard concept to grasp. Reintroducing animals that haven't been there for about a half a century does not do much good, though - the predators and prey are not used to each other. That causes some problems. Elk normally bugle to find mates, and now they barely bugle, knowing that it will attract wolves and other predators.

It's okay. Sorry for my responses being so slow. I was gone most of the day today.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EchoTheWhiteWolf In reply to ThatOneKiddo [2010-06-24 14:59:12 +0000 UTC]

Yes.
The reintroduced wolves had caused a problem in yellowstone because the elk had lived free of predators for so many years and now have no idea what to do.
The same exact thing caused the dodos to become extinct. They lived predator free until settlers arived to their island.Uh oh....
It is sad for the wolves, the humans, but more importantly the elk population.
What's weird though is the fact that before the wolves arrived, the humans were always complaining about the elk problem. Now they're complaining about the wolf problem
The wolves were there long ago, and then we took them out. Then we put them back, and now we've caused a huge problem for the elk.

It's ok if they're slow. I really dont check my messages that often....

ThatOneKiddo In reply to EchoTheWhiteWolf [2010-06-25 04:02:51 +0000 UTC]

The elk problem was easy to solve with hunting... Who doesn't like a nice elk pelt and good, fresh meat on the dinner table? The wolves are a different story because they're a bit harder to find. They don't tend to move everywhere.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EchoTheWhiteWolf In reply to ThatOneKiddo [2010-06-25 19:35:50 +0000 UTC]

Well, wolves are predators, so being hard to find are their thing
But many people mistake their being hard to find as them being "endangered".
Just because you can't see an animal, doesn't mean it isn't there.
You're absolutely right

Kind of like the bat - we have bats fly around our house at night (No, I don't live in a creepy manor with vampires and werewolves lurking around it. xD) and eat the bugs. You don't see them very often, but we all know that they're there. My cat caught one a year ago or so. That was sad.

Depends on what your definition of "cheap" is. A full pelt (or even one without legs) is more than likely going to run you over $100.

I think Moscow Hide and Fur and Glacierwear have some of the cheapest on the net.

I hear from most taxidermist that they actually do the opposite. They feed the meet to bugs/pets and keep the bones. Skeleton is good for animal study, and as before mentioned- arts and crafts. :3

Plus...people will pay a pretty penny for a wolf skeleton, especially the skull.

I can't have that many pelts around- our family has two outside dogs whom would probably try to tear it to pieces (they attempted to with our stuffed Coyote head ((which is named Buddy))) And our midgety inside dogs go nuts whenever they see a predator, stuffed or not. (We also learned this because of Buddy.)

Same, the bones are brilliant for crafts c: We've got a chair that my dad made out of cow hide, and around the rim are little golden hoops each with a bead and a wolf tooth on it.

Personally, I think it looks nicer when the entire pelt is hung/pinned up or used as a rug. The heads on their own creep me out alittle. I get tired of looking at such an ovverated dog xD

It sounds very nice! Wolf teeth can also be put into rings like elk teeth.

I like it as a rug. Then you can sit there and cuddle up to the fur without being mauled. Fur is nice. We don't have any heads at my house, but we have 2 sheds from deer on display. I'm tired of looking at them too, but it might be fun to make faces with it's face. XD
