Wringing in a bit of a starting storyline! Thank you so much to Shevy-Art for letting me borrow Ian for the art!
----------------------------
Story:
“You’re not pushing him hard enough”

Aaron shifted in the saddle, trying to keep herself stable while Gambit bounced around the open arena. His trot was one of the worst among the Hat Creek horses, making it difficult to attempt at a sitting trot as she did now.
“Try to push your heels down farther, make sure that you’re positioned correctly” Ian called out from his spot in the middle of the jumping course “Pull him in if he acts up.” He made a gesture with his hands similar to pulling back on the reins “Like this, just let him know that he’s not allowed to do as he pleases when you’re the one in charge. Now, get into a canter and try again.”

Aaron let the reins slacken a bit as she prodded him into a canter and let him go around the arena for a minute before Ian gave the cue to turn him in. At that, Aaron tugged the reins in the same way that Ian showed her. Gambit refused, pulling the reins with a sharp nod of his head and out of his rider’s hands.
“Hey!”

Ian chuckled as he watched the disobedient stallion be pulled into a stop. “I saw that, just get a better grip and don’t let him best you. Remember how you handled him in the Hunting Festival?”

“Yeah, when he wasn’t being as stubborn as he is now” Aaron commented as Gambit turned his head to look back at her with what seemed like a glare. She ignored the stare and picked up the reins once more, nudging the horse’s sides.

Ever since his peak display of show at the TUA Festival, the Spade had shown that he was capable of more than what was thought. A new trainer had been brought in, Darkwood-Estate 's one and only, Ian Adam Lockwood. With his expertise, Aaron was soon pushed to her limits and further, something that she wasn’t used to, especially with Ian in charge of her training.

“I see that you’re ready, so head towards that oxer over there but stay at a trot, I want to see how well your balance is and if it needs some working on”

Steering her horse towards the specified jump, Aaron made sure that her heels remained down and kept herself in the saddle as Gambit picked up his springy trot. As she cleared him for the jump, he unexpectedly pulled his head, lengthening the reins. Aaron’s hands scrambled for better purchase as Gambit leapt upwards, and in doing so, threw her backwards. As he landed, Ian watched as Aaron was tossed forwards against the horse’s neck. “I’m not sure about that posture”

With her eyes watering at the sudden frontal hit, Aaron pulled back on the reins, gathering them in and stopping Gambit with a halt. “Ouch”

Ian sauntered over to where she had stopped. “Care for a review?”
“Go off”
“First, you’re not taking charge. Next time you jump, you keep your reins where you want them to be, don’t let him surprise you like that” He held up two fingers as he began to list another reason “Second, you have a very loose grip, is what I noticed. You’ve got noodle fingers”

“Thanks”
“No problem”
