"There was only one thing I remember... well, more like, never forget... I was walking around with this Corporal, we were both scouring the battlefield for any wounded ponies the initial waves might have missed. As the Corporal is checking this disabled tank nearby, he calls out to me from behind it and he screams, 'Holy Shit!' for all the world to hear... I walk over to check what's going on... and..."

"It's okay, Mr. Richards, take your time..."

"There were... two... two mares... they just sat behind the tank... clutching each other like they were facing the Reaper himself... There was another mare behind me... she was dead... just... motionless in a puddle at the bottom of a crater... I don't know why I kept staring at them... but I saw all their coats... their manes... almost the same damn colors..."

"...they were sisters... weren't they?"

"...one of 'em looked at me straight in the eye... the look of utter horror on her face... while she clutched her sister... she was waiting for me to... to just shoot her... It... I... it was, I think... the first time I started... getting... openly emotional...

"...in hindsight... I wasn't upset because of 'em... I was upset... at who they reminded me of... my damn brothers... could only see their faces on those ponies... seeing what I had become...

"But... after a moment, I remembered who I was... and I took those ponies calmly back to the aid station. They got a ticket out of the war... and all those brave bastards that charged us that day... they deserved a break."

This was the reason I didn't do ATG for the past two days. It took a while to complete (no thanks to school) but I like how it turned out. It's not my most favorite piece I've done, but it's definitely up there. I also got to screw around with humans again, which was surprisingly easier than the ponies. The lighting in this one was heavier than what I had done before, so it was a neat learning experience.

However, I want a scanner so very badly. Using a scanner app on an iPad is not advisable unless you're cheap and broke. But, you gotta work with what you got, I guess.

Fun times... now, if you'll excuse me, I should get back to ATG.
