“Everyone be quiet!” I could hear them bickering amongst themselves.

“Where did Michael go?” Everyone paused momentarily. “Does anyone else hear that music?”

They all found themselves in a maze where walls of books towered over them. Occasionally books would fall from the bookshelves and find their way into a pile on the floor but did they understand why… probably not.

“Should we split up and look for him?” One of them asked eagerly.

“Hm… I don’t think that’s a good idea. Maybe we should follow the sound of the music. We may find something.”

“I’m ready to leave. Can we just find a way out of here?”

I listened to their footsteps clapping against the marble tiles as they all pushed each other forward, disoriented and confused not realizing that the books were watching them.

“Are these books categorized?” The smart one observed. “They’ve got labels with dates but they seem all out of order.” She pulled a book from the shelf and opened it, her eyes lit up with fear.

“Hey! There’s a curtain up ahead. I bet that’s where the music’s coming from!”

“WAIT!” She called out to them but they had already pulled back the curtain where I was patiently waiting for them.

“Michael?”

“I am The Story Teller. Thank you for becoming my story but this is the end.”
