In my nightmare, the building I live in (top floor) shifts about 10 feet (a true fact about the place I used to live in). I'm standing out on a balcony and the shift happens suddenly (which never happened, natch). The shift is so sudden that the railing I am holding onto, breaks and, like a fireman's ladder expands; such that I am holding onto one end that reaches out and away from the building to the point that I am halfway between my building and it's sister building. Clinging for dear life.

I've had this same nightmare several times with different outcomes.
If I try to crawl back along the railing, then it breaks further so that I am hanging about ten floors below mine. Resulting in my eventual falling.
If I just try to stay in place, then it starts bouncing in the wind until it breaks resulting in hanging about ten floors like last result.
If I just try to stay in place, the building starts to shift some more resulting in the railing expanding more until I smacked against it's sister building resulting in my eventual falling.
I try to crawl back along the railing and succeed, the building continues to shift more and violently so, until it breaks apart resulting in my falling.
There are more outcomes and some are just repeated...

The point is, there is always hope of surviving, which is always taken away.

Gosh, just looking at this again makes my feet and palms sweat.

In my weirdest dream I fell from a terrible height and died. Then I saw my dead body lying on the street.
Now, when I'm asked if I ever had ''out of body experience'', I answer positive

I never died from falling in my dreams. I've died from being bitten by a vampire (on the wrist). I was also at ground point zero  of a nuclear blast and was vaporized. I also saw a meteor hit the earth and wipe out all life (including myself), but haven't died from falling... yet.
