Description
So this obviously isn't entirely my creation.I took a photo of Tom and Elizabeth for lineless coloring practice and the one I chose happened to be black-and-white only (not to mention of debatable quality, as photos from the mid-70s would be).
So my task became to recreate the photo in colors, and add a little bit of colored lighting on top of it (because that always looks amazing). I had to take a good guess at the color of Tom's jacket here, because it seemed all black in the photograph. He never wore a black jacket in the series, though, and the next closest thing I could think of was the red velvet coat he wore in 'Masque of Mandragora' (which looks very dark under specific lighting conditions).
Might be a tiny bit of cheating, but I actually kept the original photograph in there, blurred and at only <20% visibility hidden under several layers of shading and lighting - because it desaturated the colors a bit in the places where I overshot it with the coloring.
So, anyway. I like how it turned out. It's more rough than the Alice Cooper one I did (on which I spent considerably more time. Too much time even, because I went back and forth on the details where it might not have been necessary), but still does the job.
On a side note, I can't get over how both actors found their way back on the program, but missed each other by a year (Elizabeth's year of death, that is - sadly). That's quite tragic. If you ever hear them talk about each other on interviews, the little off-screen stories, the respect they hold for each other, it's wonderful. Back in the 70s, the series' writing didn't really pick up on the relationship they had, as they would most certainly do nowadays. So it shines through on a more subtle level. Just one more scene though, one final scene on the new series to conclude their story after 30 plus years, they would have deserved it.
I don't know about you, but I like to imagine that the Curator and Sarah are spending their retirement together. According to the Who universe, Sarah did not die as early as the real-life actress, so it's possible within the series' logic.
Alright, enough talk. I could go on about this for a long time...

(I would credit the one who took this picture if I knew. It's lovely.)
