Tauriel explores a beautiful underwater coral reef in the serene sea :3This idea was originally meant to be a collab with however due to computer issues she was unable to do her half....thus I offered to do everything o3o

This drawing is not bad. It has things that are actually pretty good but the reef turned out so...bad. I don't want to go harsh there (if I do sorry ;-; ) but it seems like it came from a low quality picture, really. I think you tried to give some depth to the reef (juding from the fact is blurred) but that doesn't really give the effect you wanted...because it made everything look so cheesy. Probably making it detailed but more blue-ish would have done it. Now I don't know what did you do after I left the stream but if you had given more time to detail the coral reef (it's a pain but still it's required for a good one >.<) and didn't blur it it would have turned surely better. Not to mention...what is that small white outline? It looks...strange...and kind of out of place. I don't know what you were going for with this so I can't say anything much.
But now comes the good! The rest turned out really nice! The character is very clean and the shading is pretty neat like always (even the shadow of the face turned less heavy than I thought. I have to change my mind e.deviantart.net/emoticons/let… " width="15" height="15" alt="
Good job on the eyes too, I love how they turned out!
The rest of the ocean also turned out good. I really like the lightning effects you gave to the sea and the fishes and the bubbles give a nice effect! The coral reef might ruin the feeling alot but still the water turned out awesome x3

EXPLANATION THINGS:
Vision: It looks good but then the coral reef is......eeeh
Originality: You tend to make alot of underwater pics with girls...I can't rate this that high, sorry ;-;
Technique: (5+4.5+0.5)/3 = ....
Impact: The coral reef (again) penalizes this one alot...too bad, the rest has a really nice impact

I honestly have to agree with most of the points you bring up. Most of the effort was put into Tauriel herself rather than throughout. The background was very disappointing....then again coral is complicated to draw.
Backgrounds are one of my weaker areas when it comes to drawing and unfortunately I tend to cut corners when it comes to this
Ive been trying to think of ways on how I can improve on the quality of work as of late and I think it has to do with anatomy and shading. I feel theres not enough depth when it comes to shading.....like the drawing seems "flat".
Anywho with that said, thank you so much for taking your time to critique this piece

Hmm...since you tend to focus on the character and not so much on the background, why don't you try to do some practice with backgrounds alone?
I'm pretty sure that nearby your hotel are some good landscape spots that are eye-candy (I mean, it's Bahamas
Then I don't know if it might help alot but if you try to focus on backgrounds this problem should gradually disappear (but it takes a long time. Backgrounds are different from one another :<)
I'm sure you can do good at backgrounds if you do enough practice ^^
