It was Alice’s first time to New Zealand, she was beginning to travel more and more to show dogs. Although she was quite a paranoid individual and had a hard time being comfortable on airplanes or in other countries, it was starting to grow on her. It was just her and her favorite American Bully bitch, Ciri, on this trip- hopefully to finally finish Ciri’s championship. Their view from their hotel was a dream- the big green peaks of New Zealand with larger, snow-capped mountains in the distance. Allie turned away from the window- just to see that Ciri had already made herself at home on the only bed. Typical Queen Ciri…

Unfortunately for Ciri, it was time to prepare for the show, they could relax later. “Chodź tu, Ciri!” Most of the dogs that had been at Bears Den Kennels knew some Polish commands as Allie’s husband and sister in law were from Poland and it was the language they chose to speak at the kennels. The fit black Bully grumbled but rose from the bed and followed Allie to the grooming table she had set up in the corner. “W górę!” Ciri leapt up onto the table with ease. “Dobra dziewczynka”, Allie cooed as she began preparing the dog for what would hopefully be a very important show.

Later at the location for the show, Allie nervously adjusted Ciri’s show lead and smoothed her jet black coat down as they waited alongside many other beautiful American Bullies. With her social anxiety, though very fun and rewarding, these shows were tough to attend. Allie would be paying for it later as she would be drained of energy when they got back to their hotel room. Luckily she knew Ciri would be just as happy to get cozy and just relax the rest of the night. Switching her focus to her dog, Allie smiled gently, her dimples showing. Ciri was one of her favorite dogs (shh, don’t tell the other dogs) at the kennel, as her sire was a beautiful, well-worked dog that Allie had admired for a long time- and Ciri was following in her father’s footsteps both in athleticism and appearance. The black and white bitch had really started to grow into her legs and fill out her muscles since Allie’s sister in law, Katya, had taken her to her first show. That show had gone very well, and they all had worked hard to prepare for this show as well.
