Sepulchral

sepulchral [si púlkrəl]

1. Dismal: suggesting or possessing characteristics associated with the grave, e.g. gloominess

2. of Sepulchres: relating to burial vaults or funerals and burials (formal)

3. A massive eyeless beast with large clawed hands for burrowing through the earth and grand muscular legs powerful enough to clear great distances in a single bound. Its face, neck and back are lined with nostrils that enable it to "scent" an area and lurk just beneath the waters surface when hunting in water. Gills on its sides give the creature the ability to take the hunt to the water if need be.

3 cont. A sizable opening on its chest resembling that of a y-incision opens up to reveal a thick coil of black slime coated tongues, a secondary row of teeth that nestle perfectly beneath the top set and teeth that line the sides of the open cavity giving it a stitched-up appearance when closed. The open chest cavity serves as a case to pull prey into and trap it where the victim will be bound and immobilized by the tongues and slowly digested for consumption. The inner chest cavity is pale pink in colour with a torn white fleshy membrane on the surface.

This is Sepulchral. He is the creature I designed for the contest being held by Robert Rodriguez for the film Two Scoops.

D: I've been working on this damn thing forever! I didn't think it was going to take me so long considering I started drawing him even before the second part of the contest opened (because I read the terms and conditions and saw the conditions about designing a monster lol) but here we are. A few days before the end date and I'm JUST finishing him now lmao

I think even if it doesn't win I might keep him around as an original character or something xD Not necessarily for my novels or anything but you know I WAS thinking of a new creature to use in a possible Resident Evil fan fiction or something >D
