Description
Vaik 'Jaren, warrior cadet of the Chikri-Merkaa Conflux 's Foremost Legion, in a ready stance. She is one of a newer generation of combatants trained in the years after the war with humanity according to the Conflux's own, rather than the Covenant's, doctrine. Although 'mainline' Sangheili tradition has historically forbidden females from serving in military roles, like in any starfaring species there exists a great deal of regional variety in customs across the Sangheili colonial sphere; owing partly to the species' meta-civilization's disparate governance and clan-specific customs. Case in point, the House of Jaren and other clans on their home-colony of Glorious Proclamation have been accepting of females in combat and leadership roles for millennia, though they were still barred from Covenant military service in all but a handful of largely ceremonial roles and special monastic orders. The C-M Conflux is one of several splinter polities to have dispensed with such strictures following the Covenant's fall, in part due to the example set by the Swords of Sanghelios but also the prominent influence of the House Jaren in the group's internal affairs. Even so, female warriors remain rare outside the clans of Glorious Proclamation and their off-world holdings.Digitally refined from a sketch seen here and sort-of inspired by Isaac Hannaford's illustration of Tul 'Juran for Halo Mythos, with some Halo CE/pre-Xbox influence thrown in for good measure; slim and streamlined Elites are the best kind. I didn't originally even have a name for the character but since I think the design turned out okay, I might revisit her at some point.

I am in love with this and the choice of color is wonderful. I also love the weapon of choice here. I feel it would be not only a lethal but intriguing weapon to come to ends with.Β
I love that you chose to do the slimmed armor, not only is it befitting for the feminine structure of your Sanghelie but it captures that graceful, honor infused, fluent fighting style that I have always respected about the Elites period.Β
Their movements were swift yet meaningful and the slimmed suits aided in that. Allowing light weight motion. Now theyβre clumsy, immoral, their suits are bulky and they no longer fight Honorably. They merely stumble about, making them less than worthy to fight. Hoping 343 changes them back with a right explanation.Β

Thank you. I definitely agree about the new Elites -- they've gradually gotten so bulky and lumbering they barely have anything in common with the species' earlier portrayals at all. They're even starting to sound more brutish than the Brutes themselves.

Oh I completely agree! Itβs quite sad to see them make such a drastic evolution. I had always hoped that the bulky type were some sort of mutated elite species that had been banished due to their dishonoring ways and that weβd still see our more slender types.
But after Halo 5 came out, I was obviously sadly mistaken. I do hope they have listened to the fans and will make a turn around so we can see at least something of our original beloved Elites.

Been awhile since I last saw a interesting female Sangheili. Nice work.
She reminds me of Tul Joran or however her name is spelt.

Tul Juran was an inspiration, certainly, at least in terms of the design. Thanks!

I hope we'll get some female Covenant characters with some actual roles in the story in future Halo installments, plus I always preferred the more slim Elite design of the older games.Β

Clearly and Arc-Strider she is... (goes back through the Vex Portal he may have conjured to go fight off some more bi-pedal space turtle rhinos)Β

Yeah. I didn't really think about it at the time of drawing the sketch, but the physique would've probably been too slim for a male.
