Believe it or not, the view looking through the telescope itself (without the camera), is even better!! Since I shoot "Prime" with my DSLRs and a telescope's magnification level depends on the size of the eyepiece, you can actually get a closer view of the moon than what ya see in this shot.

Of course, atmospheric conditions always have the last say in any star-gazing.
Humidity & haze can be as much of a PITA to viewing as clouds. Humid air is not only denser, but the water particles diffuse & scatter light.
The various layers of the atmosphere stack up and act like a gigantic gaseous lens, constantly shifting around...
in fact, that shifting around is the most common reason the stars seem to twinkle.

That night was pretty good though.
