Real to a point - yeah they have EM/Hydraulics to move & that,
but none are fully independant.
LOL! No, not a Frankenstien started AI like Johnny 5.

I enjoyed taking it.
Yes, it's like the world famous "atomic" symbol...
LOL! even his name is a kind of inside joke as that symbol is of an older idea of atomic theory.
Mainstream science today agrees that symbol doesn't accurately represent what an atom truly LOOKS like.
The smallest view we can get of matter through a SEM, the elements still looks like little blobs of solid stuff.
Other tests seem to show that each bit is vibrating or oscillating at specific frequencies.

The real question is do we NEED them?
π: 0 β©: 1
PsychoSanyo In reply to The-Dude-L-Bug [2011-10-12 22:07:58 +0000 UTC]
no....but do we need some of the things that have been created?
π: 0 β©: 1
The-Dude-L-Bug In reply to PsychoSanyo [2011-10-13 18:58:43 +0000 UTC]
Exactly.
We don't "need" a lot of things we've made, and some are more than questionable.
Objects and even objectives & situations can easily become creations where the desires exceeded the purpose.
Some of those things we made were told (by those who supposedly knew best) that they MUST be built!
Only later is it discovered that WE didn't understand a fraction of the conquences of what was being done...
(Funny how those the same weasly little "knew betters" that get us into the messes always seem to have had some private unvoiced suspicions & end up profitting from it somehow.)
The movie did illustrate the flaw though...
what do WE do when robots do everything?

Atom the underdog rises to success. did anyone notice he was smaller than the other robots or was it just me? Either way it was a good movie. I like the characters in it and the robot designs. The design for Atom and Zeus was my favorites.

SnookumsGal In reply to QuiGonJin [2011-10-12 00:56:54 +0000 UTC]
Well yes, but then again he was a second generation robot. Back then they made the first generation robots more human-like, so the second gens were probably taller than the first, but smaller than the new ones.

Yeah you do have a point there. I forgot that small tidbit of information. Man I want to go see this movie again!
I LOVE Atom, wait that didn't sound weird did it? Okay I guess it did. Either way I do believe I have seen action figures from Real Steel online, but I don't know where to find them. Anyone have any ideas where to find them in Stores. I'm going to try and Super Wal-Mart, but since they don't have them on the Wal-Mart site I don't think they will have them...

Yeah man, I can tell by your avatar xD
Atom was so cute<3 I loved his 'smile'.
π: 0 β©: 1
QuiGonJin In reply to SnookumsGal [2011-10-13 18:41:28 +0000 UTC]
Okay at least I guess since you said you liked his 'smile' you don't think what I said was weird. Yeah I put together that avatar myself believe it or not. Playing with layers and sizing and stuff in Photoshop and ImageReady.
Either way I can as weird as it may seem relate to Atom. He's small and gets underestimated same goes for me and whatnot. Neh I could go on about other ways I relate to him, but I will spare you it. I feel really stupid saying I can relate to an inanimate object like that....

SnookumsGal In reply to QuiGonJin [2011-10-14 02:31:39 +0000 UTC]
Ahaha it's fine I get it ;D And by smile I mean how the mesh on his 'face' is poked through makes a nose/smile formation OuO
It really is a good movie in more ways than one.

Hehe, now that is how you make a true robot fighter for the movies.
Just saw Real Steel yesterday, and it was awesome. One of the year's best sports movies, right up there with Moneyball. Atom stole the whole show with his punches on the big bad robots, and the movie ends just right.
Awesome photo of Atom, my friend. I'm guessing that the 2012 Oscars will have a special guest, if you know what I mean. :giggles:
