i changed the tones in the sky to make it darker and add contrast, but those are the original clouds. thanks a lot

if i remember correctly, i used the black and white filter, faded it to hard light, then used unsharp mask and brightness/contrast.

i'd imagine that's odd, i've lived in upstate NY my whole life, and i'm used to living in hills or valleys. i would like to see the plains at some point though, being able to see that far off into the horizon looks like it'd make for some interesting photos

I like this. It's neat. It looks very old. In the thumb view it looks like there's a devil in the clouds. Kinda scary, like you have something against Salvation Army. But great photo anyways!-Steve

they do kind of shove their religion down the throats of people in exchange for food/shelter, which seems less charitable then self-serving to me (their motto is blood and fire, and their leaders have military ranks

Well I'm very religious but I'm highly against military and won't "shove" my religion down the throats of others. So hopefuly you can like me. lol. I wouldn't like that either if I was there. So I agree with you from what you say. I hope they're not all like that.-Steve

Awesome. The lighting is great and you can definitely see the emotion in the photo. Love the dripping rain on the Salvation Army sign is powerful-gives a sense of of hope, but at the same time, sorrow. Great stuff.

This is stunning.
Very cool focal point (the sign) and that sky is wonderfully dynamic and dramatic.
Good use of vertical and horizontal thirds too, plenty of space to look around the image.
