Event: Millbrook Farm Spring Event - 1st Place

Handler: Aveline Lawson

Aveline gritted her teeth as she stood with her little mare. Well, they were both little. She hadn't been allowed to ride at this show, she was too inexperienced and Bennett needed more time to assess her and Brigette before they could officially ride under the Rosewood Studs name. She instead decided to enter Brigette in the liberty class, which Ben had rolled his eyes at, but it gave Aveline something to do other than sulk over not being able to ride the cross country course. So she bathed and braided the mare in her own time, and it showed. Her button braids were more like fist braids, though thankfully none had fallen out yet. She had scavenged a loose ring bit to put on the mare's bridle and done her best to make up for several months neglect on the leather. But, Brigette was the smallest and the least flashy one, even just waiting outside the rings. She was positive nobody would even see Brigette on the dark rubber footing, she could almost hear the scathing remarks calling the mare "plucky" and "cute". The sun was lowering quickly, and the event descended into long shadows. As the mare was called, Aveline pulled her shoulders back, and lead the mare commandingly into the ring. She let her lose and clucked to her, and Brigette took off into an elevated trot, tail flagging in the wind, passing by the melting sun.
