Description
Loosing something was a concept Robotnik fully understood on both sides. It was a harsh fact that he never denied its existence or its truth. Loss was a part of the world and something every person would have to face in the end, no matter how much one would make attempts to prolong it.He didn’t sugar the matter to himself. He knows well what the feeling is like to loose something important… or feeling how it was necessary to take something away from another. Each circumstance surrounding each incident differed, though, resulting in differing emotions. How much it hurt when he learned of the unjust deaths of his grandfather and cousin. Believing that with each passing day, world leaders began to view their people more as less then sentiment beings who were not to be trusted, having their freedom and individually stripped in the process. He remembered when his mother and father passed away and how he felt there was nothing left to bother sticking around for anymore. When he chose to give up any chance of ever living a normal life again, in hopes of creating what he viewed as better future for the world. Whenever he made choices that resulted in the loss of others homes, and even the deaths of others, finding it a necessary evil in order to reach his ultimate goal.
Robotnik was all too familiar with loss. As he saw it, denying it would be a foolish and harmful mistake in life. Doing so now would be deadly, as it was currently a very crucial period of time for someone other than him.
The man almost slumped against the bed he sat right next to. Just how many hours of sleep had he missed so far? For the past four three days he sat next to that bed. He would monitor the machines and watch for any sudden changes or abnormalities. The inventor barely got any sleep in-between. He was exhausted and felt drained of any energy. But he felt it necessary to stay awake as much as he could find possible.
“Boss…” A soft, artificially generated voice came from the medical room entrance door. A red, orb shape based robot floated in the door frame. Its bright blue optics was slanted. “It’s been four days now and there appears to be no complications. It might be safe to take it easier now and get some rest. The bags under your eyes are bigger than they normally are.” Normally saying something like the latter remark would have been out of disrespect towards his creator, but not this time. It was an attempt to get the human to perk up. As expected, it didn’t work.
“As was the same case for the previous clones who all never woke up.” Robotnik gave the robot a reply in a rather deadpan tone, mostly due to exhaustion.
Small whimpers started coming from the bed which then escalated to crying. The man sighed and reached over to the bed. One would first assume that the man’s sighing was out of annoyance from the sounds of the crying. But listening closer, the robot at the door could tell it was from feeling a sense of relief.
The scientist picked up the crying newborn and cradled him in his arms. Together with gentle rocking and the hushing, the baby stopped crying shortly after, with soft whimpers just escaping from him now. Seeing such a feared person actually being affectionate to even their own was still a serial sight to behold in the red robot’s programming.
“I see that you’re obviously going to be spending the night in here again, so I will fetch you some refreshments and amenities.” The robot informed in a more perky tone.
Robotnik nodded and gave the robot a concerning another, before waving him out, “Make sure that idiot doesn’t come in here and wake Christopher up with his malfunctioning voice chip, again, Orbot!”
Orbot took his leave and left the doctor with the still whimpering newborn. The man would just continue to hold the baby boy. He just kept the infant in his arms, like it was the last time he was ever going to see him. Past attempts made the possibility of that misfortune occurring, again, high.
Robotnik knew what the feeling was to loose something, after all, even if he had been guilty of inflicting that pain onto others before. Refusing to ignore the reality only further kept him at the side of his clone. Even if the chances of the infant making it through its first month were very unlikely. Even when he knew and feared the boy could easily be gone in a second. He was going to stay with the new life he created himself for as long as possible. At least he learned that after experiencing and causing loss so many times.

I like this idea of Chris being Eggheads clone. Its better when being the child of a famous actress and the boss of a technology company. Could give him also a better reason to stick with Sonic and also become a little more useful.
Love it

What do you mean it would give him a better reason to be around Sonic? Wouldn't Eggman not want him to stick with Sonic? Haha!

I guess xD
Well what I mean is, Chris would want to be around Sonic more often, so he can spy on the blue hedgehog and maybe do some things to trick Sonic as well.
And since yesterday, these thoughts stick around in my head. Maybe I write something to that later.

Oh yeah, that definitely makes sense in that context. Gotta dig up some dirt on them for daddy dearest. XD Glad you like a concept of mine enough to possibly write something from it, too.

Tell me if you ever write it. I would differently like to read it.
Yes, it makes Eggman look like one of those ruthless dictators who towers over everyone and looks intimidating, but will turn into a giant softy when it comes to his son. Haha!

Well this is amazing! Sadly I read it before New Me but it's still great! Really gives you another way to look at dear old Eggman and it's just so heart warming! Love it!

Thanks! Sometimes I worry if I'm making Eggman "too soft", despite him, characterization wise, being a mix of his game and Sonic X counterparts in this AU. I enjoy playing with the abandonment aspect on Eggman's side, since he's pretty much Chris' father(or whatever you call someone who is the original of a cloned organism) in this AU, so it makes for some fun parallels to make.
