Description
This character first appears in The Wretched Forge .
Javaan hails from the wretchedly poor town of Chidibe in Yerim-Mor Kingdom. He was orphaned at a young age, but Javaan found his way on the streets with the many other homeless children there. He used his strength and wit to survive this harsh life until his teens, when he joined the Yerim-Mor military.
Centaurs are stereotyped as being battle-crazed and obsessed with honor. But throughout his rough life, Javaan learned that survival was the only thing that mattered to him. He was determined to stay alive, even if it meant thieving and lying. Truthfully, he only joined the military out of necessity and has little interest in fighting. But when he does fight, he fights dirty.
Unlike most centaurs, Javaan has no qualms about letting smaller peoples ride on his back. Such a novelty was what helped him survive many battles during his time in the military, though as the kingdom’s economy crumbled and his wages dropped, that soon came to an end. He and a few of his military friends deserted, instead using their skills to form their own mercenary service. They called this service the Steel Knuckle Squad.
Life as a mercenary wasn’t much easier, at least until their company was bought by the Freelance Good Guys. Now Javaan does honorable work under Captain Evan Atlas, although he’s still trying to unlearn all his years of dishonorable behaviors. Javaan may still fight dirty and has a tendency to cheat in order to get his way. Still, his playfulness and bright sense of humor are never unwelcome on his crew.
Javaan is not only strong and fast–he boasts sharp perceptive skills uncommon to most centaurs. He is always acutely aware of his surroundings, always monitoring multiple situations at once, and always ready to react if one of them goes sour. His values are self-serving, and while he will always be there to help his friends, make no mistake: Javaan helps Javaan first.
