Issue #9: The Downward SpiralThis pin-up was drawn by Berty J-A and features the Engineer who featured in the original film "Hellraiser". A native of the Labyrinth and a creation of Leviathan, the Engineer constructs tools and equipment for the Cenobites, as wel as stalking the corridors in search of fresh material.

It is The Engineer yeah, it creates the tools and equipment used by the Cenobites.

I remember the novel when the Cenobites first appear to Frank and he wondered why they were 4 instead of 5. One of them said to Frank that the Engineer will arrive soon. The last cenobite Frank encounters is the lady cenobite,he could clearly see she was a "she". I thought several times if she was the Engineer. Silly thought maybe i don't know.

The Engineer in the novella appears at the very end to Kirsty, and has a head like a cone of fire. It gives Kirsty the Box after their deal is done.
In the film the Engineer was the creature that chases Kirsty from Hell and later appears to try and stop her closing the gatewya before she can be taken to the Labyrinth.

Oh yes. Is been so long since i read it last time. I stick to the movie is something i can move and watch at the same time doing things you know.
