a pet project i've had lately after reading runns world.nearly finished now, just gotta do the top of the banner, the backpack and some touching up.
GOD-DAYUM how did i overlook the crimson fists before?! i remember the 3rd edition space marines codex when they had pinkish colours and that put me off them for ages :/ i never realised how awesome the stories and fluff for them are.
im selling this guy with honour guard soon (the 4 chapter masters) all on large larva style bases
(the flicks of paint everywhere will be cleaned up first though, especialy around the eye)heres some other pics!

im keeping him for now dont worry heheh. im painting an entire army to his standard to go with him and then asking a VERY high price for it all. that way, if i dont sell them, im not gutted as i get to keep them, and if i DO sell them....PROFIT!

Blending can be hard. I'm trying to do a chaplain at the moment. Nowhere near your skill level, of course.

thanks ^^ yeah, the chaplain is a fantastic practice model as it has everything to practice from matt armor, jems AND bone. i great source of info that i found for blending are the white dwarf archives on the GW site. helped me out a lot.

Mine's a kitbash really. It's got terminator bits, Thousand Sons bits, and some Captain Sicarius bits in there too! For blending, I used a tutorial for doing that style of blending that all the damn french Daemon winners always seem to employ.
Suffice to say, it's nowhere near as good. I was a bit impatient, and did not water my paint down to such a level.

yeah i seemed to notice that XD every country has a specific style that the winners ALWAYS have, its almost a requirement nowadays XD here in the UK its the specific blue/white sword effect that you can see on the "sanguinator" on the GW site. it drives me nuts that its almost expecte4d if you want to win
yeah i found a great way to "cheap it out" with blending is to use the badab black wash over every layer you do, it darkens each layer of paint so they look like the blend together nicely.

Here in Australia, we don't get a lot of big winners, but the fellow who taught me a tonne is a real skilled guy. He's taken home a trophy or two. Here's a photo of one of his things (1st place).

sadly i'm yet to even enter golden daemon XD although my work is still NO-WHERE near good enough compared to the competition that i've compared it to. luckily im only 19 so i have years of practice until i get good enough to enter

Crimson fists and that = sweet.
Especially loving the glow from the lava on those rocks, and the shade-blending on the front of the helmet.
Considered making any set-pieces for your models now that you're getting pretty ninja at painting? It'd be awesome to see some scenery for your pieces as opposed to the white background, and you'd probably have a butt-load of fun modelling them.
