How to assign a proper lusus
NOTE: NOT ALL JADES WILL HAVE A VIRGIN MOTHER GRUB, THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS MEANS. HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT TO ASSIGN A VIRGIN MOTHER GRUB AS A LUSUS, YOUR TROLL MUST HAVE JADE BLOOD.

I think it would since kanaya said it was rare to have one as a lusus and even for her cast if i remember but i'm not sure.

My troll is a jade blood (the class below Kanaya so middle class (high), I can't really decided what her lusus will be but it said that most jade blood are motherly in nature, so would a bear work? They are motherly to their cubs..

You pointed out Jadebloods having the Mothergrub lusus, but Kanaya is the only example of a troll with a virgin Mothergrub lusus in Alternian recorded history, according to the introduction of her lusus in canon. As for Purplebloods like Gamzee, I think it would depend on the animal/creature representation and symbol of the troll to determine a land- or aquatic-based lusus. Gamzee only had an aquatic lusus because of Capricorn being a mergoat in mythology, and it wasn't explicitly stated nor implied that all Purpleblood lusii are aquatic nor that Purplebloods are semi-amphibious; only that many Purplebloods live near the shore because of their position in the caste system allowing them to. A troll of Gamzee's caste with, say, the symbol Orion (the hunter) could in theory have some other kind of predatory land-beast as a lusus by fit of his or her symbol.
Point is you're making a lot of generalizations based on only the twelve canon trolls when realistically there could and should be more variations because the blood colors in Homestuck can be easily comparied to different races and nationalities in humans, where broad generalizations of "_____ is always _____" are irrelevant and untrue. Yes there's a fine line between possible in canon and completely fucking ridiculous but nonetheless there are more possibilities for a "canon-worthy troll" than you outline here and in your blood caste explanation.

I apologize if I came off as harsh, because I'm like 90% sure I was explicitly trying not to sound like an asshole about it (90% because I commented that well over a year ago and had to re-read my own comment to understand my own context).

I believe that Gamzee's lusus reflects the fact that he is one step down from the seadwellers on theΒ hemospectrum, making him the closest thing, sorta. IDK, just putting that out there.

actually Gamzee's lusus more reflects his symbol, being Capricorn the mer-goat in reference to the zodiac. I understand the viability in the fact that Purplebloods very well canΒ have aquatic or semi-aquatic lusii due to their position on the hemospectrum and how close to water they tend to live, but the fact that this "tutorial" says that it's mandatoryΒ that Purplebloods have aquatic or semi-aquatic lusii is somewhat ridiculous

I'm having some difficulty. my troll is Aislin Lennox, the one trait about her line is that she sings, there are animals that can (in a way) sing. the problem is, is that she's an Orchid blood color, which is lower than Gamzee, therefore a land dweller, any ideas?

The only way I get by to find the right lusus is just look at the blood color and symbol with a few things on the personality

My OC is a midblood with blood color between Terezi and Vriska's bloods. Her name is Thuban Ultion and her lusus is a giant snake that's based off a Quetzalcoatl (minus the wings)

My OC is a highblood seadweller. What should her lusus be? She can be very Violet when angry, but she is usually calm and nice. My plan was for it to be a lion/Raven

How exactly would that work? As far as I know, neither lions nor ravens can live underwater! I would highly suggest trying to create a lusus that can survive underwater, sea-ing as how your oc is a seadweller c:

The troll is based off of fats/oil so I assumed a lusus with a lot of blubber would be appropriate, but all animals with blubber seem to be quite connected with water.

Why not a polar bear, panda or tropical penguin? All these creatures are pretty cool - penguins or polar bears might be a bit too aquatic, but a panda would be an awesome lusus!
