Description
Had another awesome storm last night... I love storms, just the absolute power of lightning is incredible. Out there is a lighthouse. A big, tall, bright beacon showing the ships where to go (or not to go), but compared to this bolt of lightning, it is nothing.Anyways, i hope you like it

You did a very nice job with that, I always like good lightning shots, and this has to be up there.
Out of curiosity, did you add blue or did the lighting really turn the place that blue?

The blue was done using my white balance setting. Your camera should have it. If you set your own, set it to something like 3500k or something.
[link] - should give you a little info

Yeah I've played with WB before, but it was just experimenting. You achieved a great result with it tho.

Holy crap. That's one of the best lightning photos I've seen. The framing and the colours and the lighthouse and all of the other features that make me wish I'd taken it instead.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but...doesn't the 28(ish)mm focal length mean that the lightning was actually closer than the pic makes it look? If I'm right...you're crazy man!!! Amazing!!!

Ohh yes it is... Its a real hit and miss game with lightning. You will be facing one way, seeing all this lightning alll the way over there, so you turn to face it and BAM, there is a massive strike, right where you were facing 5 seconds ago. I also find they tend to hit between your shot

Epic lightening bolt - was it hard to capture? I'm assuming so
Funny to see this beach in so many different weather situations, having only been there once in real life. Love the purples and blues of the headland.

Well done then! Lucky indeed
I suppose 'rainy day' is covered under storm. What about snow, on the beach, that's plausible, right?

Sweet shot! Good to see that someone got a good shot out of those storms. I ended up staying inside because it looked as though there weren't enough ground strikes to get a good photo.
