The GP40FH-2 is a strange beast, a GP40 rebuild by what was then Morrison-Knudsen using part of the cowling from old F45s. NJ Transit only rosters 4 today, which have the reputation of being shop queens. Metro North has more in the shared pool, which are fresh off yet another rebuild.

I remember these! I think they're the only thing I've ever seen that have a spartan cab with a full-width body.

Indeed. It's made even a little more awkward seen at a normal angle because the rooflines of the cowl and the cab don't match up (the angle of the taper at the top of the cab and the one on the cowl don't line up)
