Aw, the poor dears. Chara thinks that they, of all people, could ever control Frisk. Frisk, the very essence of determination. Frisk, who can be so many people at once. Chara is weak. Too weak.
The Player, on the other hand... we are the true god of Undertale. We make the choices, we choose the routes, we get bored and rip apart the code and stitch it back together in a way it was never supposed to be.
Frisk, Chara, Sans, Toriel and all the rest? They`re just code to us, playthings, toys to mess with.
We will befriend them all and then slaughter them without mercy, smiling the entire time.
We are the true god of undertale.
We are the true monster.

Oh Chara, you poor deluded little fool. Do you honestly believe that anything you do has even the slightest lasting impact on the game world in which you reside? Try to deny me a true pacifist ending after I've already killed everyone, and I'll simply acquire a tool to delete your influence from reality itself. You're not a demon; you're not even that difficult of an obstacle. In the end, I, the player, hold cards that you can't even perceive to exist.
As for Frisk, my apologies if my decisions differ from what you would choose, if choice was actually given to you. You have my gratitude for allowing me a chance to interact with the world you live in and the beings that inhabit it.

I always saw this as what really was happening. Lotta people like to blame Chara for the Genocide route that they underwent and actively pursued on. Seems like they don't want to take responsibility for the atrocities they commit. Other than that, very nice picture.

Frisk is the player's avatar in the Undertale world. Our age is their age. Our gender is their gender. Our feelings are their feelings. Our emotions are their emotions.
Chara is awakened by Frisk's determination when they fall down on top of their grave. Chara's confused and uncertain. 'Why was I brought back to life?' Hoping to find an answer to that question, they accompany Frisk on their journey.
And, depending on our actions, they either pass on into the afterlife peacefully (paci), remain uncertain (neutral) or believe that power is everything and that 'kill or be killed' was the right choice all along (geno).
...but that's just my opinion c:

Now that's a terrifying thought.
It's definitely an interesting theory (and a completely plausible one) but I personally don't like the idea. I think it lessens the impact of the story.
Frisk didn't choose to consistently show mercy to even the most malicious of beings and to save the very monsters who had been trying to kill them with the power of love and kindness. The player forced them to.
Frisk didn't choose to kill a monster due to the pressure of being trapped underground with a civilization of magical creatures out to kill you and steal your SOUL. Creatures who gleefully claimed they would use your SOUL (and the souls of the last six children that they'd murdered) to shatter the barrier and commit genocide on your species. The player forced them to.
Frisk didn't choose to deliberately hunt down every monster they had previously befriended in the Underground without mercy, becoming the very evil they fought against in neutral/pacifist runs, and are corrupted to the point they are longer seen as a human. The Player forced them to.
I don't believe that the player is an actual entity within the game, like the Puppeteer in OFF. I think we're simply playing as Chara/Frisk the same way we play as the protagonists in the Persona series and Mario in the Super Mario series.
Nonetheless, awesome picture! It's so dark and creepy I love it.
