Zed if half of a decaying Australian corpse brought back to life by the forces that may be in order to guide Cynthia Hunter on how to use her powers and how to handle the various supernatural forces that have returned from the dead. Unlike most zombies that experience cognitive deterioration over time due to the flaws that come with traditional science-based reanimation, Zed's magic-based reanimation allows him to retain his original memories and attitude from when he was alive. His gruff demeanor is matched by his plethora of insults, comebacks, and raging rants not just towards those who wish to do him and "the girlie" harm, but really just towards anyone that so much as looks at him funny (which is why it's a good thing that only Cynthia & the undead can undead can understand him). Due to his condition, he must ride around inside Cynthia's backpack so that she's not constantly floating him around in the open, she just uses her power to take a little weight off the pack.
