The Caterpillar and Alice looked at each other for some time in silence: at last the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth, and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice. 'Who are YOU?' said the Caterpillar.

As soon as I saw the announcement for this contest my mind began to go crazy with ideas. If anyone has been following me for awhile, they probably have picked up that Alice in Wonderland is my favorite book! I chose the caterpillar to represent myself in this contest because I feel like I can most relate to his character. While Alice is very curious, quick with words, and temperamental, and in contrast the caterpillar is melancholy, chooses few words to express himself, and not easily angered. In general, I liked the laid-back style of the caterpillar and I don't think that he gets enough attention.

This shoot was a lot of hard work, I'm so thankful for everyone that helped me out! My father is a rocket scientist, and he helped me make some homemade smoke bombs for the shoot! The smoke that you are seeing in these photos is NOT a manipulation, it's real. We wanted them to produce purple smoke, but the dye didn't work. All the same, the smoke turned out much better than I expected! Mom wrapped 12 feet of blue tulle around me and made me bedazzled goggles so I wouldn't burn my eyes out with the smoke. My siblings, Caleb and Rachel, dragged this huge fallen branch from the woods and held it over me like a canopy for the shoot. Mr. Storms was gracious and allowed me to borrow his gorgeous hookah for the shoot. My wonderful boyfriend Josh took the photographs for me, while I posed and tried not to stupid. I couldn't have done this without their help, I am so grateful!
