Description

"I’m sorry I can’t make it all better, Bucky. But I’m here now. I’ve got you," Steve whispered.

I’m actually really happy with how the colours turned out! While I was painting this I kept worrying that the colours were off and that this piece just wouldn’t work in colour, but luckily the “colour balance” adjustment layers in PSP fix everything.

In my first sketch for this they were both happy and content, but well, it’s Steve and Bucky… so yeah… in the next sketch they were both sobbing into each others shoulders. But that was too much, I decided, so now we have Bucky doing that “crying while scowling and looking angry” thing that Seb’s characters often do, and Steve just being there for Bucky, like a cuddly rock.

Thank you!!! And I always like to read comments that I got the colours right, as I struggle so much with colour. I find right now the best way is for me to paint the whole thing in black and white and then colour it afterwards, which is what I did here.

Well majority of your paintings tend to be great on the colouring..I am even starting to do black and white before laying down colouring as it makes it so much easier to do it that way XDD

My current WIP is actually all in colour. I started it in black and white, but it's got a sun set background and ugh, I couldn't for the life of me work out how to paint a sky in black and white first, hahaha! XD And somehow this one has just ended up being all in colour... we'll see how it turns out . I'm trying to stick to a palette, but it's still going to be too colourful if I'm not careful.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!  The balance is perfect, both the color and the tension in their bodies.  Wonderful!

Thank you!!! I'm always especially happy when someone likes the colours in my art, as I'm never sure about those... I wish I was better with colour - when I paint directly in colour it's all 'supercolourful', but when I paint in black and white and add the colour later (like here), then I can end up with very washed out colours...(probably not a bad thing really, hehe XD).

Wow, this is stunningly beautiful. Especially Bucky's arm, the reflective quality is amazing.

Thank you!!! I was very careful to make the arm as much like the reference photos as I could, although the reference photo was some kind of scan from a paper or magazine and was all grainy - so the arm is hyper-shiny compared to the reference, cause maybe i overcompensated a bit, hehehe XD. But that's the "fun" of painting the arm, the shininess :/. (some people can paint it without a reference pic to look at, I have no idea how, lol).

Thank you so much!!! (just don't look at the hand, agh, the metal hand! DX Maybe one day we will get more close-up pictures of it that I can look at to see how to paint it realistically ).

It's really beautiful! ^^
I hate drawing that hand, I've to say DX Never seen a good closeup yet... But also, my skills are not good as yours.^^"
But it already looks like an original D:

There really aren't any good close-ups at all! Maybe there will be in the next film... there's the scene where he wakes up on the operating table and looks at the hand for the first time, but that's the best we get. There's some stuff in the concept art books, but that's not a screenshot, so it doesn't tell you how the metal reflects the light... that's the biggest issue with the arm! XD With skin I've got to the point where it's not essential that I can see it in the right light (although for a pic like this it kind of is, but only for the faces, and even then I changed the lighting slightly compared to the reference photo... but like, I didn't have a reference for the light on steve's arm, i just made that all up). the metal arm and hand... i NEED reference photos! XD metal is not something I have any idea how to paint without looking veeeeeery closely at a screen cap, hehe!

I cannot find any close ups for Lokis arms. I mean, the inner side. Do people call that thing so? Maybe.
But I thing you already done a very magnificent work, and the arm looks really realistic. My skills (and my Program) are far away from your work. So don't worry about such a little detail
