Description
Wow... what a project!Tree Hugger is made from cuddle soft and has dreads made from wool. They were quite a challenge but they give her the realistic look.Β
Her eyes and bandanna are embroidered using a brother PE 500, and she is stuffed with poly fill and poly pellets. She was a trial for a 16" version, but this is my 10" pattern and I do not think I will be doing wool dreads on her again.Β

I know dreads aren't the easiest things in the world to make but you did a good job here

She is awesome. And oh my I know the struggle with her dreads. You actually inspired the way I did mine with separate pieces . Wire does help though. Took me 4 days to figure out that I needed wire to help them not stick out straight. The only thing I'm sad about is that wire takes away some of the awesome cuddle.

Thank you!
I actually figured out a way so that I didn't need to use wire. After figuring out a different method for wool, it got easier and they are now more poseable. I just made a second Tree Hugger for a commission and they look way better:
I like making things posable, but wire is super annoying and takes away from the soft cuddle affect. Kinda a reason why most prefer beanies! (I do xD)

cute but her tail seems a bit too stiff

It is. I will be placing wire in her tail next time I make her so the dreadlocks are posable, if I make them in the same way. Dreadlocks are stiff, so treehuggers tail wouldn't be anywhere close to the droopy thing it is in the show.
I am tempted to persuade wire into her tail now, and update the deviation. I just don't know how well that process would go as her dreadlocks have been felted. They are still soft, soft as roving can be, but I don't want to ruin the felting and have to refelt them. That may make them *too* rough.
