That's because of poor lighting cues. Plus, the ref you got is not in good quality.

Well sorry if you don't like it but, the reference I used was official artwork, Rooster Teeth approved it and even the character sprite in Cross Tag Battle has a similar coloring scheme so that's what I went with.

I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you’re a fan of the high octane and stylized action that made Bayonetta famous.
