And now for Something completely different

It's been a while since I've colored something that isn't a color commission, a coloring gift or something that I've commissioned. Rather this is something I wanted to color just because...and I'm not sure if it was the brightest thing to do just because of how the picture was made So Pixiv has a lot of talented artists and every once in a while I chat with some of them to see what's going on and every once in a while work with them. One of these users is すもものこ or Sumomo No Ko who makes color pencil art on this person's gallery and mainly priorities on diving pictures. So every once in a while I asked the person to draw Cardcaptor Sakura characters in LAMA gear...and by that I mean a lot. Seriously if you look at this person's gallery you can tell that I have made a lot of requests

Regardless I always try to come up with different scenarios of how Sakura and her friends dive underwater with LAMA gear just to pour my ideas out and to get a good idea of how it would play out. It's pretty nice for this person do that and I'm always happy with the results he comes up with. Then a couple of days ago I've got a sketch of this picture and I though that of all the sketches he has made, this one came the cleanest and because he has helped me out a lot I decided to color this one for free and started coloring...again mistakes were made

There's a reason why I don't allow sketches for coloring commissions as it's hard for me to make the base colors and it does take me a while to clean up and sometimes no matter how much I try my colors don't blend well with the sketch that much. I can't say that coloring this was perfect as even with the adjustments I've made there are some differences to the anime and this sketch. But then again this is all that it is, just a test to try out something different and to make it stand out as much as I can. I will say this, it does look like an animation cel which makes it pop out a least.

So that's my whole experience of coloring this picture. While it's nothing much to talk about because come on this is something that you should expect from me with Cardcaptor Sakura and LAMA gear Still it has been a while sense we saw a helmetless version of Sakura and more importantly the gear she wears is quite different from the version I'm used to coloring as Sumomo tries to draw the LAMA gear as close to the real life version has this person can. It's hard to see the exact differences seeing how this picture shows to top half but it's a nice change of pace and while still prefered the simplied version that I've colored for the past couple of years, it would be nice to fully color Sakura with LAMA gear as close to the original desgin just to try it out ^^
