Samus and her Zero Suit finally make a debut!

So it's my 625th color commission and we got another LAMA picture to show you...well, half a LAMA picture as we got a little gear mix up here as one character wears LAMA gear and the other isn't. Don't usually color many pictures like this but hey I say it's interesting at least as the set up for this picture definitely raises an eyebrow as the character in the LAMA gear is actually Samus Aran, the famous bounty hunter from the Metroid series wearing her iconic Zero suit. But you would look at her and see that she is smaller than normal? Well there's a reason for that as we got another character wearing a Zero Suit but the gear is a little more vintage like as she has an oval mask, double air hoses regulator blocking her expression and a hood covering herself completely. You maybe wondering who this character is...it's actually Samus Aran, the famous bounty hunter from the Metroid Series. That's right, we got two versions of Samus together in an interesting picture...*looks at both of them*...So how did this happen?

If I had to make a guess, I guess Samus...well this is going to get confusing. So the Real Samus was called in by the Galactic Federation on a important matter to discuss. Real Samus arrives and is shocked to see that they present her with a teenage girl that reminded of Real Samus of how she looked during her training in Planet Zebes. The Galactic Federation explains that this is actually a clone of Samus as they wanted to make sure that if the Real Samus dies whether it be near or far future, they would always have a Samus Aran that would help defend the galaxy for whatever threat happens. To be fair if you are familiar with an event close to the end of Metroid Fusion, this wouldn't that be that far off of what they would actually do.

So with that introduction out of the way, Real Samus was assign to look after clone Samus a bit...because of course clone Samus is going into her teenage phase and the Galactic Federation didn't want deal with it and put the responsibility on Real Samus instead but to her disagreement. But the two are stuck in an odd mother and daughter pairing as Real Samus tries to work on some training for clone Samus. One of the activities that you see, is that the two decided to dive in a closed off aquarium area to learn about underwater stuff. The two won't be wearing their Power/Varia suits but rather different diving gear to learn how to survive in case they don't have access to their suits and only have a stun gun with them. Clone Samus decides to wear LAMA gear while Real Samus covers herself up...which to be fair actually fits seeing how Samus does cover herself whenever she's in mission. The two dive and Clone Samus learns about the underwater world and some usual information of different scenarios and what to do with them. The two then came across a group of Blogg and they are usually hostile as Real Samus tries to warn Clone Samus about them but she losses her for a minute and wonder where she is. When Real Samus founds clone Samus, Clone Samus was pretty curious about the fish but Real Samus puts out her stun gun ready to take it out if it does anything to her. But to her surprise, the Blogg wasn't hostile as Clone Samus was able to contact with it and she was awed a bit. She seems to enjoy interacting with animals. Kind of like how Real Samus was in the past with her training at Planet Zebes. She doesn't do anything and decides to play it out...but she still has the stun gun out just in case.

So overall interesting picture as there's a lot of things that kind of showed good calls back to. I've mentioned the Metroid Fusion stuff but with Young Samus here, I was getting Metroid Manga vibes as there was a Manga of Metroid around the time for Metroid Zero Mission and it does a good job showcasing Samus during her youth and training. As well as being properly being a teenager around the time as well as her interactions with animals. It's a nice detail showcasing both sides of Samus from youth to how she is now...and not in a Metroid Other M way

Anyways, coloring. I was told that this was based on the Aquarium Sector of Metroid Fusion so I used the sprites that I've found and try to apply them to the background so we get some green...but a lot of blues. Doesn't exactly help that the Zero suits are blue as well. It's blue everywhere and I'm perfectly fine with it because blue is my favorite color ^^ Only other thing to talk about is the Zero suit as references I do see of it did had a shiny effect and I don't usually do those for wetsuits. But at the same time it does help separate the colors from the background so I can't really complain too much.

And finally...yeah I needed some help with this picture to make sure that the zero suits were on point on the references. It did look a bit odd, so special thanks once again to evgnm for actually redrawing the Zero suit designs for both of them and they came out pretty great overall

And that's really it. This came out a little sooner than I planned but with what's coming up soon, I was kind of forced my hand with this with posting a Zero Suit picture. Still happy how well this came out and I hope you like it as well
