'Flash 8 For Noobs' Tutorial

Hey everyone, this is a tutorial I did for my IST (computing) assignment in year 9, so i decided to submit it
Firstly, if you don't have Flash Player 8+, chances are you wont be able to properly view this tutorial, so please get it from adobe.com if you don't have it.
Secondly, here's a link to the trial version of Flash CS5, which is the most recent version of Flash as of July 2010: [link] , for those who want to check out Flash before getting the full version.
Right-click menu ftw! Right-click for chapters and stuff. Try it!
This tutorial shows off my old but somewhat electrified intro. Turn up the bass for an audio "experience"! (ie. turn down your sound if you don't want a hearing aid any time soon)
Remember, this tutorial is aimed at a noob to the Flash program, someone who has never used Flash before and wants to learn. So don't go complaining to me if its boring. xD
The first step to recovering from noobness in animation is motivation, and finding your style. This tutorial can help with motivation and basic knowledge but you'll have to find your style yourself, and this usually happens over time. If you do give up along the way, try to come back to it at a later stage.

Very interesting. Personally, I hate motion tweening. The animation never feels right with tweening, even if I adjust the easing movement.

Good tutorial - should be good to get anyone who doesn't know flash started.
heh, this took like 5 min to explain what a class taught me in 3-5 weeks (they move veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow)
Much more simple and easier to understand.

Where can I get Flash 8??? When i search it in Adobe it just shows me Flash Player and Flash CS5.

Oh my god, you did all of that in flash?! 
The best I could ever do was make a ball bounce, and that was thanks to handouts in IPT class... And here you are busy creating electricity bolts and everything. I'm impressed XD
But seriously, great tutorial, I found it very helpful. Now I just need to download a trial version and test it out

thanks so much! ^^ lol yeah, I was known as the guy at high school who was the "freak at Flash" xD to be honest my skills with animating in Flash haven't improved much more since then, which is weird

good tutorial.. But my problem is those damn buttons.. @__@ I've tried with different tutorials for soooooo long now.. but none of them where usefull T^T
I use Sothink swf quicplayer.. Don't know if you know anything about that program? It's kinda the same as all the other flash programs, but I just can't make it work >_<;;
any advices? I've tried to create a button with all that "up down hit-" so on, but It won't work... >_<;; and the tutorials I've found doesn't show how I make it link to the next page.... >_<; I hope you can help me somehow..

This tutorial was SUPER awesome and amazing and totally helped me! I had to use flash in my cyber arts class and the problem was my TEACHER didn't even know how to use flash that well!

198/200 is damn good, and I know what you mean when you say your teacher didn't know Flash, my IPT teacher last year was the same. Then I got to art school and things changed lol
Btw this was one of the best comments to read, purely because I was able to find out exactly how the tutorial helped someone
Also, human run/walk animations are among the hardest things to animate, and you did it from three angles! Epic job ^^

i have flash 9.... when i open it nothing happens, its just white. no time line no nothing :[

Flash Player 9 and Flash 9 are two totally different things, just in case that's the problem. That's if by Flash 9 you're referring to Flash CS3. Coz opening Flash Player 9 I guess might cause a white screen? o.O other than that I'm not sure

sorry for the incredibly late response, but adobe.com has it. if you're looking for Flash 8 tho, adobe.com also has a trial version, I think... tho you might as well go ahead and get the Flash CS5 trial version that should be coming out soon ^^ should be awesome
