It's not uncommon. I most often see depictions of pirates holding blades in their teeth, especially while hands are occupied with climbing in a ship's rigging.

ββWell, the setting and stoutness are not enough on their own to ascertain the species (particularly since the character is anthropomorphic) and theΒ specificity of the spots is easy to miss if you're not looking for it, and as for the description and tags, it is possible that they were added afterΒ your comment but it's more likely that you simply read it too fast or incompletely.
